Should want more then just a 2nd and 3rd to take Alzner, suppose there's some retention by the Habs though so Detroit wouldn't be taking his whole salary.

Actually Montreal have extra millions in cap space to work with, i don’t see why they would pay to get rid of that contract when they can wait agter next season and buy him out for much cheaper.

I agree, see no reason for Montreal to pay to move Alzner unless they plan on having a busy summer with UFA signings and offersheets.......

I'm not a huge fan of thatcher. It's an interesting idea but I suppose it depends on the willingness of markstrom resigning. You still need to sign a back up goalie and I'd hope Steve adds at least one decent piece to the blue line.
