Finally getting an elite player

Created by: Daredevil514
Team: 2019-20 Montreal Canadiens
Initial Creation Date: Mar. 16, 2020
Published: Mar. 16, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I know Huberdeau is not for sale, I know the price for him would be higher since its inter-division but I feel Montreal is in a place in their retool were they can afford to lose a trade to immediatly upgrade. The farm has been refilled properly and we still have a lot of picks this year.

The only thing with this idea that I dont like is we would still have a ****ty defense..

Players on IR Will be gone
The trade happens at the draft unless we win the lottery

Just imagine this new french connection

This is a terrible deal for Florida. Domi is having a trash year and Cole Caufield is nowhere near Huberdeau. This draft is good but only the top 5 can be better than Huberdeau. He is helping them make the playoffs this year and is on a very good contract. Instant no from them

It's a decent package. Although I think Romanov is more enticing to the panthers over Caufield. The panthers already have a fully developed Caufield in Hoffman, and Tippett essentially plays the same role. The panthers are weak on defensive depth and could really benefit from having a guy like Romanov on their back end.

Still, much depends on the placement of that pick. Huberdeau is a top talent - those don't come easy, especially on such a great cap. If this is a top 10 (ideally between 3-6 in the draft), the panthers bite - otherwise you probably have to add another first.

As for last two years Huberdeau has actually been 90+ point player. He's a TOP5 LW in the league. This package is not enough.

MTL would have to add Mete and Poehling and also take Matheson's contract, since it's pretty likely that Domi is going to cost more than Huberdeau, which is a joke in itself. Huberdeau's contract is so good.

This is why I always ask what should be added... Easy to **** on a thread without bringing anything constructive..
Domi would have finished with 50 pts by playing with lehkonen and Armia for most of the year. Not bad for a trash year. Of course Caufield is not near Huberdeau, he is still an A+ prospect projected as a 30 goal winger and the top 10 this year is very very good. Yeah its probably not enough but to say this is absolutly terrible is wrong.

Mete Caufield Poehling 2020 1st and Domi for Huby and Matheson? I would do it.

Its probably the 8th overall. I know this kind of talent on such a good contract is nearly impossible to get, if adding next year first would close it then I would do it too

That's the bare minimum to start the negotiations I'd say.

Lol no duh. Its easy to trade for any player when you think every player is on the block. Caufield is not an A+ he is an A. A+ is when a player has franchise potential.
Florida wants a player in return that will replace Huberdeau. No several second liners.
You habs fans are annoying Huberdeau ain't going anywhere unless its a mined blowing deal

I still don't think Caufield is enticing enough. Romanov seems like exactly what florida needs. Adjust the overall "value" accordingly by picks.

I also am a guy who thinks Caufield will be useless outside of the powerplay in the NHL. Thus why I always compare him to hoffman

on top of that there's the NMC.
i think realistically no trade ever happens involving Huberdeau - at least yet. It's still fun to hypothesize the value.

You're getting a bit worked up over this.

Of course it will never happen xD this site is about dreaming, discussing etc. People always take it to seriously as if the thread was ready to be sent to both DG haha.

As for the trade, If Romanov is what they would ask then he will unfortunatly have to go...
How about Romanov, 2020 1st, 2021 1st, Domi and Mete and we take Matheson contract if you consider he has a négative value.

Hahaha sorry, should have said foward. Still, Weber is not elite anymore and you can argue the same thing for Price. I like both a lot but they are past their prime even if I think they can provide good hockey for a couple more years. If we can upgrade the defense I think Price could become elite again.

Nah Weber is still an elite player, easily. The guy is a beast and shows no signs of decline at 34... ARTER not one, but two seasons in which he was severely injured.

And Price is still elite, easily. He’s had no good backup in years and still manages to put up good/great numbers.

Stop with the Domi+Caufield+Montreal's 2020 1st round pick for Jonathan Huberdeau? If Tallon trades him it's for a top pairing LHD like Zach Werenski not more wingers.
