Description
All the credit goes to Leonard 316 (@pensredwings587). He looks back on moves the Penguins should've made in order to improve the team and keep them at a championship level for much longer. The LTIR are guys he never would’ve brought in or would’ve dealt at this point.

What happens with Marner after acquiring him?

Good question. They probably burn out his ELC & either deal him again or resign him at a team friendly deal like Pastrnak. Cuz that’s his comparable not Matthews.

Hindsight always helps make things better.

If you go back to the drafts 5-10 years ago, so 2009-2014, pick 3 of those at random, re-do the Pens picks knowing what you know now... Best team in the league. And no, I haven't done that, it's just the upside of hindsight and knowing.

you know ever team could have done this.
Now if there was a time machine every team would go back and die to get Pastrnak

I think the top 4 is a little weak, obviously Pastrnak would be ideal

Agree everyone would’ve done the Pastrnak move.

I think Niskanen & Maatta were really good together in 2013-14. Player a lot of big minutes.

Hagelin doesn't belong on any teams 2nd line.
He is no threat offensively. Penguins fans know that. They saw it first hand. Furthermore, as he aged he got slower. The penguins made the right move letting him go. The money they saved on him went directly into Tanevs contract. I have no problem with that. We got the better of that deal.

Yeah you are right about Hagelin losing some of his speed, but he is still a really good forechecker & defensive specialist. Plus he’s good at sustaining pressure in the offensive zone, that’s a big reason why him & Geno were so successful in 2017/18.

Hindsight bias for most of these. I do think we should've kept Hagelin but idk

Hagelin would’ve been good with his forechecking & defensive play. He was the definition of Sullivan’s system. Here is my hindsight team: https://www.capfriendly.com/forums/thread/316629&post_id=1338179

              What’d you think of it?

Hagelin was good with Malkin because Kessel never plays defense. But you take Kessel out the picture and you have a different story.
