We are not trading Hillis for a backup goaltender. In two years from now we'll say he was the steal in the 2018 draft.

As a Detroit fan I have to agree. Hills and 2 draft picks is too much to give up for Bernier. Hills is one of Montreal's 10 best prospects.

I like the MIN trade but wtf playing Brodin on the 3rd pairing. If you let Domi go for a Dman, the guy as to be Weber's partner.

Overall this defense would be very solid but boy the offense is weak. Better hope zuke and KK production goes up otherwise its fixing a problem to create another one.

Krug wont ever sign here anyway so use the cash to find cheap UFAs with offensive potential such as Granlund, Dadanov, Toffoli etc.

As for Bernier, it would be better to include one of Mcshane, Fonstad or Houde since we wont sign them anyway. Hillis is a project but might be suprising down the road.

To be fair that offense isn't going to the playoffs (At least not NHL level). If you're going to get Brodin it has to come with an extenstion, if so then you do not sign Krug* because Romanov comes in on the third pairing.
Take that 8.5M$ to go get a top winger then you're in a better shape.
As for the backup goaltender you go get a UFA like Dell, Markstrom or Talbot for the same kind of money that Bernier gets. (If you want to sign a backup one a one year deal maybe Greiss or Miller could do it)

*Anyways everyone knows canadian teams are all on his NTC so he ain't coming.

laugh Krug isn't leaving Boston for Montreal, It was already reported that Krug doesn't want to play in Canada. And is definitely not signing with the Habs. And this team is nowhere near playoff contention.
