Why should TB pay to move Palat?

Palat is unlikely to waive and not even a 1% chance Tampa would trade him and 2 2nds for a 6th??? Palat alone would draw at least a 2nd and no sweeteners needed. He is far from a cap dump. Cirelli at 4 to 4.25, Serg at 4.5 or 4.65 seems about right and Cernak at 2.25. I still believe JBB gets all 3 for no more than 11 million on short bridge deals.

Did not mean to put two 2nd rd picks. Yeah palat is decent but if teams know Tampa is desperate to move salary they might have to add a sweetener.

Frankly if a player like Palat was available for just a 2nd rounder I think all teams that could afford him would gladly take him.

If Palat is "unlikely to waive," then the team as shown is $4.4 million over the cap. And that's after buying out Gourde, and waving the magic "trade" wand that gets Killorn to waive his NTC.

I'd be surprised to see Sergachev come in at under 5m. And Cirelli is a good second line C who is having a season where he is making some noise for the Selke. He probably takes north of 5.5m. I think you're being a little too optimistic with your contract numbers.

Killorn has a 16 team no trade list as of next season. Plus with how he's played this season Tampa will be able to find a buyer.

I dont know... 3 years left at 4.5 for a half a point a game winger... It's a bit much. I know he's done well this year, but what are the odds that he will replicate a career best season after 30? 14 teams is all you've got to work with and you'll have to find somebody who needs wingers (which is the most abundant position in the league), has the cap space to add him (If the cap stays flat, a lot of teams will be on a budget), and sees him as a good value add. It's a tall order.

Nah, we just don't insanely overpay like a few teams do, nor does Tampa base their negotiations on some perceived market value. Cirelli has become their 2C but is still comparable stats wise with what TJ, Palat and Killorn were doing at the same time. So when he signs a similar bridge around 5% ofnthe cap or 4 25ish million aav, no one in Tampa will be the least bit shocked. Serg won't get more than McAvoy or Werenski so 4.75 is the high end given Tampa rfas come in a little lower for many reasons. Not being overly optimistic, just being reasonably realistic given how Tampa does things with their rfa's and with more than a few examples to base this on.

Why would Cirelli take a bridge deal after a season like this though? His base stats like points and what not are comparable to those guys, but he is also great defensively. And if he were to sign at a similar CH% as those guys, he would make between 5.5 and 6. Paying guys what they are worth isn't "insanely overpaying".

No, if Cirelli agrees to a similar 3 year bridge as those 3, based on similar stats and level, the cap hit would be ~5% of whatever the current cap is. In this case I went with 4.25 based on an 84 million cap. I could see it going to 4.5 but no higher. Only way either Serg or Cirelli see 5+ is if Tampa is willing to part with Cernak or if they convince another guy to waive on top of moving Killorn, Paquette and Coburn.

Oh, pardon me, I thought you were referring to those guys current contracts. And yes, the only way those guys see 5+ in Tampa is if they are able to get those guys to waive. But if they can't, they may have some tough decisions to make. RFA's hold a lot more power than they used to with this shift in the league. Just doesn't make sense to me for those guys (especially Cirelli) to take a bridge.
