Hornqvist

Created by: AnalyticsGeek
Team: 2020-21 Toronto Maple Leafs
Initial Creation Date: Mar. 20, 2020
Published: Mar. 20, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
According to Leafs analyst @sammyt_51, the team should go after Radko Gudas if they are unable to land Alex Pietrangelo. The guy is an excellent shutdown defenseman who is outstanding at suppressing shots. I’m not an analytics guy but his xGA/60 is really good. Exactly what the Leafs need.

The Leafs need cap space, so I had to trade him. The return is not all bad. Hallander is B+ prospect, Riikola, though a third pair defenseman, is really good & would fit right into Toronto’s system. Hornqvist is a little older, but he’s still very effective. Exactly the type of player the Leafs need. A hard worker who goes into the dirty area & battles. Probably the best net front guy in the league.

I definitely would not do that marner trade. Pittsburgh is also cap constrained too with only Schultz and Sheary coming off the books while noth goalies need raises and some 9thers as well. Gusas is interesting but not a stud. I would consider TVR and Hamonic first

No team trades an elite, TOP6 first line RW in the league for a declining mid-6 winger, a 7th likely playing in KHL next year, a prospect who's had a subpar year in Sweden and a low first.

This is like CGY trading Gaudreau to MTL in exchange to Byron, Ouellet, McShane and a 1st

Exactly if marner goes it will be for a top 4 rd and maybe a 1st. Dubas has made it clear whatever trade he makes needs to make the team greater than it was with that person. If anything this makes Toronto worse. And Gudas is a stud no he would help that blue line a little but not that much

PIT take that deal and runaway laughing. What a terrible trade for the leafs. If want a stud defensemen then trade Marner for one.

Yeah there are some new guys in Korshkov & Robertson that will need some time but I personally like the look of this team. Hornqvist would be great for any contender.

Well, I think Pittsburgh will trade Bjugstad in the off-season, so there is some relief. Murray probably gets moved as well cuz he’s gonna want 9 million AAV. They will need to resign Jarry, McCann, Rodrigues & Simon, all who won’t cost too much. I think they’re better suited to fit Marner than the Leafs.

Gaudreau is better than Marner & also making way less, so his value would be significantly higher. You have to keep in mind that Marner is overpaid, therefore that deflates his value.

I don’t think teams are willing to give up a stud defenseman for Marner.

Gaudreau is also 4 years older, been in the league longer, and has 3 years left just wait for that next contract (10mill +). Yes Marner is overpaid, but with his skills and abilities teams will be looking at that mostly, him with any top center would just make any team better. If the islanders, columbus were both willing to give him more money than toronto for more term than the trade market for him is fine.

Gaudreau isn't better than Marner, at least there's no statistic that would point to that.

Overpaid he might be, but then again he's a 90+ point player. He wouldn't be getting much less.

He's also younger. I think their value's quite the same.
