      I agree, cant see it. They are on the cusp of having the current CBA expiring. (September 15, 2020). Cant seem them doing a radical amendment to the current one to allow for a buyout

      If cap goes down, then maybe. But it likely stays put.

      I have no idea how the cap next year and the CBA are tied together, but if the cap goes down, its not just an NHL thing so there would be sweeping reform across all live sports to help stimulate the return of people to live sporting events. Which at this rate could very much be the case

      I cant see the NHLPA allowing for a buyout to happen either in an amended CBA, allowing teams to cut players at a time that job security is a global concern for many due to work stoppages. I think they do whatever they can to make sure everyone gets paid and they dont have players lose their jobs bc of it
