Lineup options if and when playoffs begin

Created by: Pens3lieve
Team: 2019-20 Pittsburgh Penguins
Initial Creation Date: Mar. 20, 2020
Published: Mar. 20, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
This team has only been healthy for approximately two periods ALL SEASON LONG. Therefore the full potential has never been seen, although that December-January run was pretty good record wise.
With the huge caveat “if fully healthy”, how would you set up the lines if the playoffs started with no more season play ed.

I would:
16-87-43/9(Sid likes Sheary and I’d rather have that than Simon who should be banished from sids line for the rest of his career and play in the cold dark basement of the 3rd line. I’d also like to give Erod a shot up there but playoffs might not be the best time to do that.
59-71-17 (this was one of the most dominant lines in hockey this year.)
12/18-27/19-72
46-53-13(aka buzzsaw)

Some different line ideas.
18-27-72 was really dominant but had no finish.
19-27-72 seemed to be their attempt to improve on that.
43-87-18(o o please no!!! No Sid no!!!) twitter would crash and burn if that happened.

You could stack the top 6:
59/16-87-17
59/16-71-72

18-27-9(For the analytics geeks as all three have had good corsi years.)

For me:

16-87-43/18
59-71-17
19-9-72
46-53-13

8-58
28-6
50-4

I am a big Sheary fan but IMO he is the weakest Forward on the team. Good play driver but doesn’t get enough production to amuse me. If he plays, he’s gotta be playing with Sid cuz that’s the only place I see him being useful at. Otherwise scratch him.

Gotta keep the ZAR-Blueger-Tanev line together. They are an amazing shutdown energy line. Jake-Geno-Rust is a given for me, though could swap Zucker & Jake from time to time. I envision Zucker with his speed & forechecking would help create lots of space for Geno to dangle.

If pens are FULLY healthy and playing to their expectations (this includes bjustad picking up where he left off last year and Being a good 3C, id do)

Zucker-Crosby-Sheary
Jake-Geno-Rust
McCann-Jugs-Horny
ZAR-Blueger-Tanev

I know people may not like the scratching of Marleau, but I just don’t see a fit for him IF Jugs returns to form. I also would rather not break up the 4th line. However, some other bottom 6 combos I could see:

Marleau/simon-McCann-Hornqvist
ZAR-Jugs/Bjustad-Tanev

I agree with all of what he said but if I had to break up guentzel, Geno and rust..and honestly I think this makes for the best possible 3rd line without really affecting the top two lines

Guentzel Crosby simon
Zucker Malkin rust
Sheary mccann Hornqvist
Reese bleuger tanev

Those lines are balanced for sure. I see Simon there as well but I wish I didn’t. If Shearys not great Marleau or Erod can step in for him. Zucker hasn’t ever played with Geno but I get giving sid Guentzel.

I was thinking could also try Jake-Sid-McCann. They were really good during their brief time together last season.

- Like I said at deadline, we should have moved Kahun + 2nd Rdr + whatever else needed to get a "real" top 6 guy... Instead of Sheary, Marleau, E-Rod
I would go....
59-87-16
19-71-17
12-27-72
13-53-43/18/9

But Imagine.....
59-87-Rakell/ Fiala/ Domi/ Palmieri/ LaBanc/ Kappy/ Trocheck/ Tatar (1 of them)
16-71-17
19-27-72
13-53-18/9/46

* That would be a Legit 4- Lines w/ a powerful Top 6 for a Stanley Cup

Yeah I agree they should’ve gone after Rakell or Fiala instead of Sheary. Especially if they were give up Kahun.
