Signing the RFAS no cap increase

Created by: mk458

Initial Creation Date: Mar. 13, 2020

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Everyone seems to be offer-sheeting Cirelli. IMO there's no way that another team pries him away. First of all, why does Cirelli accept a 5.5 million offer-sheet if 5 million in Tampa is almost the same after taxes? Secondly, Tampa can afford to keep all their RFAs on bridge deals as long as they can move one of Johnson, Gourde, or Palat. Not an easy task as they all have NMCs but I think Tampa will find a way, somehow they always do. Maybe Gourde waives for Montreal? He's from Quebec. Anyways the point of this ACGM is to show that Tampa can most likely find a way to keep their RFAs. So stop offer-sheeting Cirelli!

Buffalo would never give you a 1st for Killorn even if its the 2021, it will probably still be a high pick.
You would have to pay any team ready for taking the Gourde contract. Even if he provide good hockey, nobody will ever accept to take 6 years of him at 5.2 unless something good comes with it. The picks would have to go the other way and MTL would probably still say no. He also have an NTC

Those UFA's dont sign for that little. Those three RFAs will get O/S for more than those numbers so if TBL matches, they are screwed.

The only way that no one O/S is if TBL re-signs them before FA starts...which never happens with bridge deals.

You make a fair point about the RFAs, but Tampa shouldn't have any issues signing veterans who want to win to the league minimum. They got Maroon this season at 900k even though everyone knows he's worth way more. Tampa will likely get Free agents to take discounts to play there. I could definitely see a dman like Sekera (who was bought out and is still getting paid big $) taking a low contract to play for them.

I fixed the Gourde trade. And yes obviously this only works if they miraculously convince him to waive for Montreal. And it doesn't have to be buffalo trading for Killhorn. But he did just have a monster season and is at a very low cap hit. So a first from some team isn't out of the question. Maybe 2 seconds instead
