Each Team Gets 1 CBO 20 21

Description
The concept here is that the league does not finish the season and due to leaguewide revenue being down the cap decreases. In the half lockout season of 12-13 lack of revenue also caused a decrease in cap resulting in a lot of teams not being cap compliant going into the following season. Due to this the league offered every team 2 compliance buyouts in the 13-14 buyout period. Basically a "Get out of jail free" card, where the bought out players were not counted against the cap. Some teams planned to take advantage of this free buyout however by trading a player then resigning them once bought out (ie. Lecavelier to Toronto). However the league deemed these trades CBA violations and nixed them. However i do think teams that do not currently plan on buying out any players should be allowed to trade for a player then buy them out in exchange for also receiving some sort of compensation or similar. Here are a couple rules i feel should be added to the previous amnesty buyout:
- A player that has been bought out may not resign with any team they have been under contract with since the 19-20 buyout period for 1 year.
- if a player was bought out during the 19-20 buy out period teams may opt to have that remaining cap hit removed instead.

*I skipped teams that i dont think will use the buyout ticket.
**Some teams have 2 players on here as i expect them to make a trade to a team not planning on using that free buyout

Pens won't buyout jugs, he's 1000x>>>JJ, has a 1 yr deal (when the buyout would take place) and isn't a bad player when healthy... And when he's not healthy, more than likely he can be placed on LTIR if they need the cap... They'd buyout Hornqvist before him likely too...
Goli gets boughtout 10,000 times before Demers
Don't buyout Nino, no no no no no no NO! Nino is good
Why would COL buyout Calvert... Isn't he like decent...
Uhh... Seabrook in CHI... (Or Keith, Kane)
LA should buyout Doughty
Parise in MIN, 1000%
MTL SHOULD buyout Price (they won't tho)
Debatably PK in NJD, Schneider wouldn't be a bad call either tho
NYR should buyout Trouba, they'll buyout either the Shatinkirk buyout or Staal tho
There's so many buyout able options in NYI... Ladd probably bc the extra year
PHI-how the mighty have fallen (maybe Hayes tho)
How does SJ not buyout Burns or Vlasic... Just how
(Should be palat or Johnson in Tampa)
NOT a bad contact!!! But if they do desperately need the cap space, I COULD see TOR buying out tavares or maybe Marner
So many buyout able options in VAN as well, beagle needs to go as well
Oshie in WSH

Probably doesn't need to be there, couldn't really think of anyone for Colorado to buy out so maybe they just don't use it

JJ sure but hes looked better recently Jug has not
Goli is much better than Demers and Arizona has Soderstrom coming up soon on the right side to replace Demers
Who would you buy out over Nino? Dzingle? Mrazek?
Calvert is unneeded i can remove him
Keith or Kane are both still very good they will not be bought out, Seabrook just had like 4 surgeries decent chance hes just done. If he's not then yes they buy him out
LA should most definitely not buy out Doughty
There are arguments for Parise but he is still a good player. Rask doesnt even make the current roster and is paid 4M
Agreed on Price but it won't happen
NJ will probably bank on Subban bouncing back, Schneider is done though Blackwood has replaced him.
Trouba is young and still very good why would they buy him out? Shattenkirks cap hit next year is worse then Staals at full value so Shattenkirk is the better target
I have both Ladd and Boychuk on here they will want to move both
Burns and Vlasic are still good players, San Jose's goal tending has been a disaster. IMO they fix goal tending and have their 1 and 2c for more than a month they can compete again. Yes those contracts look bad eventually but I think Burns is going to Seattle.
Gourde goes before Palat or TyJo, they might trade to move another one of them too but Gourde goes first and foremost
I think Toronto will try and move AJ for a cheap defense and a free buyout. Like Mayfield and Ladd or Sutter and Tanev or something. After trading Kadri they cant get rid of Tavares and buying out Marner is dumb.
Agreed on Vancouver they will want to trade more than 1
Oshie >> Panik they will get rid of Panik and bring up McMichael

JJ has looked better than Jugs bc jugs has been hurt... Any time Jugs is actually playing hockey he's miles better than JJ
Demers>>>>>x10000Goli... Aaron Ness>>>>>>>Goli... (Fire Goli out of a cannon plz)
Just don't buy anyone out, maybe Dzingel, maybe Mrazek depending on how they feel about Ned, but DON'T buyout Nino (hell even buyout Staal before him based strictly off performance)
Keith and Kane are not still "really good", Keith has fallen HARD, and Kane has been trending downwards, I doubt Seabs retires, he's got that juicy 6+ mil/yr waiting for him... LTIR maybe, but I'd still rather not take the chance, especially bc Maata's deal isn't THAT bad
Doughty is like their 3rd or 4th best d man and makes 11 mil
Parise>Rask rn sure, but Parise has over double the term and nearly double the $/yr... That's not justifiable
Subban has been trending downwards, I'd be stunned if he bounces back, but he's still probably better than Schneider
Trouba has been AWFUL this yr (and I wasn't sure which was more, Staal or Shattenkirk's buyout)
Vlasic just sucks, and Burns' offense has fallen off a cliff this yr... He was never good defensively either... The term and $ on those two as well... That's an expensive NHL top pair... Especially for them to both be in the AHL by the end (and sooner)...
I agree about TOR
Oshie>Panik... Panik's contract>>>Oshie's, he's already been declining and there's what, 3-4 more years at 5. Something

If I'm Guerin, I don't even give this a second thought. Rask, Parise, Suter, and Zuccarello are all potential candidates, but Rask is a cheap standard buy-out, Zuccarello doesn't carry any franchise crippling recapture penalties if he retires, and Suter is the owner's BFF who's a future candidate to join the team's front office when his playing career is over so he's not doing anything to screw them over. Parise? He seems eager to go join a contender to chase a Cup, spent last summer whining to the media about it, has a bad injury history, and carries a franchise crippling recapture penalty if he retires. Parise would be the Wild's compliance buyout if they had one, no question about it in my opinion.

@TanSor @MNBassman @wabit @Paul13 Thoughts?

I think it would be between Parise and Zuccarello. Zuccarello just doesn't fit but like you mentioned it would be the ideal way of parting with Parise's contract. Thinking it through in my head Parise does make the most sense.

Spurgeon would be my buyout. Full NMC until 24-25 season, $7.5m/yr, misses a lot of game due to injury. Plus I'd rather give Brodin Muzzin type of money; and keep him, Dumba, and Suter for the expansion draft.

-Zucc sucks for MN, but he can be traded sooner than Spurgeon. Heck his contact ends before Spurgeon can even be traded.
-Parise can LTIR(etire) whenever he wants with his history of back problems. The last 3 years of the contract cost little in real money.
-Rask is only a $4m cap hit for 2 more seasons, can be sent to the AHL, doesn't need protection for the expansion draft, and doesn't have any trade clauses.
-Suter is the most likely to be worth his contract for the longest of the players.

I don't see a compliance buyout happened this off-season. The last time they were handed out was because of the new CBA contract rules, not the short season. A flat cap is nothing new, teams have been dealing with it for years.

I’m torn here... I’m still so ticked off at both the Spurgeon and Zuccarello contracts that i want them both gone, but i would also love to see Parise gone too. Suter...as @wabit mentioned is idiot owner, Craig Leipold’s bff, so whatever anyone wants to have happen with him...it’s not gonna happen... And, Spurgeon’s deal was Guerin’s first real stamp on the franchise, so he’s not going anywhere...

That leaves us with Zuccarello and Parise... I guess it would all come down to which player i felt more confident in trading this summer and i would use my compliance buyout on the other.

Moving both players would do wonders for the future of this team!

One of Fenton's first moves was signing Zucker to his contract. He had buyer's remorse very quickly and tried to get rid of it a few times. Plus if the cap is flat it gives the GM some cover for getting out from Spurgeon's deal because it is the highest contract on the team and has the most term. I don't think it would happen, either, just it's the smart move imo.

Parise's deal bothers me less than Zucc's does. ZP is easily a $1.5m better player, and the term difference is only a year. The only thing that makes me think about a compliance buyout on ZP is to get out from the possible recapture that he has.
