Opening Night- No Cap Change

Created by: ek_65
Team: 2020-21 Tampa Bay Lightning
Initial Creation Date: Mar. 21, 2020
Published: Mar. 22, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
This is under the assumption that no player (Gourde, Palat, Johnson, McDonagh, Coburn) will waive their NTC to a leave a contender in a sunny tax free state. Killorn is the only one with some flexiblity so he's gone. Get back Lehkonen 50% retained who's an RFA, Fleury can play bottom pair at under 750k and is still very young, plus a 2nd. Does MTL need to add or take away? My other thought was Armia but he's a UFA next year so figured TBL would want some stability.

Only way this team can really work is to convince Cirelli, Sergachev and Cernak to take 1 year deals at a much lower market price like Labanc did and wait for the cap to go up in 2021-2022. It's gonna be really tough to maneuver with the cap, but I still think this team can contend next year.

Traded away McElhinney to whomever needs him. Thinking a vet like Craig Anderson (who's family lives in Florida) would have no issue taking under $1M to come to a contender.

That’s gonna be a no from the Habs, and frankly I don’t see any team wanting to help Tampa. Killorn may have value but will be hard to trade even with a modified NTC. Teams are going to want a young piece as well. Mtl won’t do this trade mostly because Fleury is our most NHL ready RHD if Juulsen isn’t going to be able to continue his career:

True, just saw MTL as a potential destination because they're on of the few teams who have the cap, Killorn is from NS and I believe its 16 team no trade, they need top 6 scoring help and saw Fleury as expendable with Romanov and Josh Brook. I hope Juulsen can get healthy.
