If that's what it takes to sign OV the caps should let him leave.
He's 34, can't skate, and 10 mil a year will end up being a disaster.

Poolman is bad at hockey. Don't need him. Jensen is much better.

Ovi and Samsonov won't cost that much.

Caps should definitely not trade Siegenthaler. Beast top 4 defensive defensemen that's young and cheap. He's better than Kempny.

Id have to disagree with the first point, I think he is miles better than Jensen, when I see Jensen he looks like a lost dog everywhere on the ice joins the rush too often with no positive outcome and can get back only some of the times. Secondly, Backstrom made 9 so Ovis making more, and he will want a raise so how much do you expect him to make, secondly Binnington signed a 2 year 8 million bridge deal for the Blues, Samsonov is younger and has this and next season under his current contract my guess with the cap also rising is he makes 4 million. and finally some people like Seigs, I don't so for me because we have Alexeyev, Fehervery coming up id like to see what they can do.

If Backstrom is signed for 9 id like to hear what you think OVI will make because the caps rising and he was on pace for over 55 goals this year, he would probably want a slight raise, I don't see how 10 mil is out of the question, also to be his contract he rides out into the sun with.

Idk if you'll see the response so I'm quoting it too, I forget which one works better

dude this contract kicks in at 36 and runs through 39.
You go look at the list of players playing at 36+. Go look at the results.
The vast majority of them are Defense or Goalies.
You can justify that cap hit to yourself all day. There is no way they should pay a guy who will be 36, 10 million a year for 4 years.

At the end of the day he's got to make more than Backstrom and sign for enough years to break the record, maybe he goes 2 X10 then signs for 5 mil after that for a couple of years. I just believe he retires when Backstrom does right after they break the record.

I think the reality is, he probably starts getting paid like Chara is in the end, just hoping he can break the record. That's my guess. It's a long time away.
