That's way too early of a call, you need proven seasons to call a goalie top 5. Literally most NHL goalies go through a similarly good run at just above .920%at some point in their careers.

Purely basing it off GAR justin holl and seth Jones have produced the same amount of goals this season. My point was never that holl is better then Jones. He obviously isnt but my point was to prove that the people on this site primarily use the pure outcomes of what happen instead of what should have happened. By that logic holl is just as good as jones (he isnt).

My point exactly.... Jones is better then you give him credit for... Holl is good, but by your advanced stats Jones shouldn’t be a top 4 defenseman in the NHL where as Spergeron is a number 1? Spergeron isn’t even the best defenseman on his own team he gets to free wheel all over the ice because Suter is so good defensively he makes up for Spergeron.

My point about holl being better then Jones was that people on here only look at results instead of what should have happened. Just like I said in my last reply. It was to prove that the results and the skill that people see can be wrong and they should be looking at expected goals more then just points and ordinary counting stats. I wasnt trying to prove that holl was better because it's not true. Holl has had a better season but he isnt better. Part of it was me pointing out that Jones' is slightly overrated and his xG numbers arent earthshattering but hes better then holl

I dont understand what you mean at all. I also think you dont get what im saying either. I'm saying that people cherry pick stats and only look at results to prove their point. Holl vs Jones was just an example. That also tied into a different point of Jones being overrated but that wasnt my main point. Stats describe what happened during the game. We need them because our eyes lie to us.

He plays center the most. He's 15th in the league in total faceoffs over the past 3 years.

No need to bicker over little changes here and there. Let's all come together in disagreement to putting Jarry as a top-5 goaltender in the league for a 33-game performance. Replace him with one of Tuukka Rask, Andrei Vasilevskiy, Darcy Kuemper, Aantti Raanta, Ben Bishop, Jaro Halak, and even the #1 sv% goalie right now (Anton Khudobin).
