Islanders trade is heavily one sided, Bellows is only considered if you take back Ladd. Trading Zuccarello likely won't happen.

Where I think the TOR trade is more value equal than Leafs fans will think, I don't see any world where Nylander gets moved - at least yet. You will have to stick with Kapanen (not for Dumba as the main asset) if you want a right shot from TOR

I don’t feel that way at all. I do, however, believe (almost) everyone around here over-values their own team’s players by quite a bit...

Leafs don't need more bottom six wingers, especially not ones making more than a million bucks. This increases their overall cap hit. I wouldn't scoff at Dumba, but the price to acquire him is too much considering the fact that he doesn't bring the skill set that most leaf fans argue that they need.

@MNBassman you pretty much said that in your 'Team Explanation' sentence.

I really dislike the idea of trading away Foligno. He's not a great player or anything, but I do think he is the "C" of this year's team.

Wahlstrom isn’t untouchable , but he’s not a prospect you include in a trade for a 36 year old winger , even with a cap dump attached.

Isles would only give up wahlstrom for a young , cost controlled top 6 winger.

Compare and contrast him and Bellows if you could please, in a sentence or a few.

If MIN took back Ladd as originally rumored, what would you send back with him (let's say MIN retains 750-1.2M of Parise's salary)

If Guerin can pry Nylander using Dumba (and adding as you have here) I'd do it. Dumba had a rough year (I still believe in him as a top pairing RD) but with Suter demanding that Spurgeon is his partner I think it's for the best we trade Dumba. Leafs will argue Dumba isn't what they need and I think there's some basis for that, but the fact is the Leafs were the team reported to be most interested in Dumba at the deadline and if they want him then Nylander is the only piece that makes sense for us (Leafs ain't trading Matthews obviously).

I would keep it really honest on this one. Thats a good value for player of Nylanders quality (versatille two-way top line winger). The leafs however dont need another purely offensive defenseman who cannot defend. However, I really do like Foligno and Greenway so if there is maybe another different deal including maybe Johnsson for Greenway, that would be nice.

I’m a huge believer in Dumba as well as a big fan, but i agree with you. With Suter...i mean Guerin investing so heavily in Spurgeon, Dumba would be much better off elsewhere.

For the sake you of the Wild’s future, i would choose keeping Dumba and Brodin over Suter and Spurgeon 100 times out of 100 times.

Bellows - not the best skater, solid defensive positioning,, elite shot (but needs a playmaker to feed him the puck). Middle 6 winger who can put up 15-25 goals , contribute on the powerplay.

Wahlstrom - much better skater, high end skill, elite shot (slightly better than bellows) , can generate his own chances and plays a very physical (borderline dirty) game. He’ll be top line 30 + G scorer for the isles.

If the wild retained 3 mill on parise, I would include bellows , ladd, and a 3rd but the wild would never retain that much, which is why the deal will likely never happen. The deal is more about getting rid of Ladd than wanting to acquire parise.

Dumba is a better defender than he is given credit for. He’s not Chara in his prime, but when his offense is clicking, his defense is definitely good enough...even very good some nights. The problem is, his defense seems to be dependent on his offense and he needs to learn it should be the other way around. Prior to his injury last season, he was very good in both ends of the rink and i have zero doubts he will get back to being that player again...especially if he is given the chance to take his talents to a team without Suter and Spurgeon...

At best I think they would match the cap, so that Parise costs you 5.5M also. At that point you're paying those assets. Maybe more. Parise is still a good middle six option and a massive upgrade to the Isle. He shouldn't be viewed as a cap dump with that much retention, even though the last year or two will hurt.

Issue is that Toronto needs somebody with a defensive first mindset. Brodin as a right shot is literally exactly what they need - however that only exists in one player and that is Brett Pesce. Dumba could very well turn out to be Barrie the 2nd. Again, I repeat that the value of the trade is good, but it just isn't what toronto should be after. I think Dumba on WPG makes the most sense vs any other team.

Parise is still a solid winger, but this was a move to make before the deadline. There are much better options to go after this summer, and if there is a compliance buyout , ladd is gone.

No way are the Isles giving up Wahlstrom for an aging over-priced Parise. And the Leafs aren't giving up Nylander in any Dumba deal either.

Dumba, Matt
Foligno, Marcus ($1,000,000 retained)
Greenway, Jordan
Additional Details:
Toronto needs toughness, Toronto gets toughness. If toughness is so important.....why is it that Foligno has won just two playoffs games in his career. Not a bad Leaf/Wild trade if the Leafs truly think Dumba is going to good value over the remaining of his career. But the other trades, that cap space being like gold, no team wants Zucc at 4.5m for the four years, or Parise for 6.4m for five years

You need to stop blaming Foligno for his lack of playoff success! That’s just a ridiculous argument. He has been on sh!tty teams his entire career.
The Parise and Zuccarello trades are pipe dreams...pipe dreams i cant seem to let go of. I want both players gone so badly, i keep posting trades for them... Especially Zuccarello!
