Yeah that MN trade is definitely interesting, because theyll actually have the cap to do it with Galchenyuk and Koivu coming off the books, frees up about 10 M and theyd only have to sign Kunin then, along with getting two young skill guys to lead them out of the permanent retooling. From the TOR side, you're giving up probably the two best players in the deal but getting cheap 3rd line quality (floor, probably) talent. Definitely intriguing

Barrie could come back but i just do not see it happening. He likes it here sure but hes been on and off defensively and taking less money than he did in Colorado seems unlikely. Still this team could have potential

Lol Kerfoot has had better seasons in the past but Erikson Ek is younger. Erikson Ek has been ok so far but I wouldn't say better than Kerfoot yet.
How does Kapanen do nothing for them a fast top 6 forward who can play on the second line. Its like saying Greenway does nothing for us.
Im pretty sure
Kerfoot > Joel Erikson Ek
Kapanen > Greenway
Kapanen > Joel Erikson Ek

You really don't know much about JEE. The guy took the shutdown 2C role from Koivu this year. He's turning into a solid 2-way center that somehow gets under everyone he plays against skin. MN made mistakes with his development: burned a slide year of his ELC, and didn't give him the year he should have had in the AHL. The NHL game slowed down for him this year. He needs to work on his shot this offseason.

Kapanen is a 3rd liner in MN same as he is in Tor. Nice player to have but not a difference maker as a wing. MN needs no more non-elite wings. He's the equivalent to Kunin.

Greenway is one of those players you hold on to and see if they develop into a top-6 power FWD. At worst he'll be a pita to play against in the bottom-6. The guy is a force on the ice, when he remembers he's bigger and stronger than everyone not name Chara.

Kerfoot is the one (realistic) FWD from Tor that I want, but I want him as an offensive 3C behind Staal and JEE for next year. I just don't see a trade that makes sense for both sides to get him.

Kapanen is actually a second liner if you didn't see. But the leafs wanted to put Kerfoot with Kapanen because of how much damage they were doing. I know JEE is a great 2 way but his offense is just a third liner. Not a second liner. Kerfoot may not be as good as defense but he can put up points. Kapanen is way better than Greenway and JEE. He could play on the first second or third line and plays on the pk and powerplay
