GMJRs annual offseason Blockbuster

Created by: Pens3lieve
Team: 2020-21 Pittsburgh Penguins
Initial Creation Date: Mar. 23, 2020
Published: Mar. 23, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Colorado blockbuster:
There's been a rumour that Zadorov may be available, and another the Col has strong interest in a Pens goalie. Assuming it's Murray, because they have the cap space to pay him, I think Col. is a logical destination for him. Col. has a plethora of RFAs, so they trade their rights to PIT, and as Colorado is still a young team, PIT gives assets for now and the future.

Does MM to Col. make sense? What do you think of the pieces PIT gets back and the depth of the team in general?

Colorado is not rebuilding and already has two goalies locked up. No reason for them to do this trade. I do think Zadorov will be available due to Byram possibly making the team next season

That's a terrible trade for PIT... Our best d prospect, one of our best forward specs, a first AND a low end (but young) starter for a bottom pairing d man, middle 6 F and bust...

I'm pretty sure its Jarry they're interested in since the whole reason JR didn't put Jarry on waivers was because he thought Colorado would claim him. That might've been JR's best move of the year other than the Marino trade

Rutherford didn't put Jarry on waivers be cause he was better than Desmith. He was better than Desmith the prior year too, but Jarry was exempt two years ago.

Jost is a bust? That bad? How about JT compher instead? I know Colorado isn’t rebuilding. I was just saying they’re a young team still so young assets will be just that.

Probably yea, but I’d rather keep McCann as I think he’s our 3C for now. I’d rather move Simon, Erod, or Bjugstad.

Jost isnt a bust he just isnt the top line player he was supposed to be, he is a very good 2 way middle 6 guy... he can play pp, and pk as well

That’s a lot to give up. I was hoping you could get all that for Murray alone & trade Bjugstad in a separate move that just dumps his salary.

Burakovsky is more than a middle 6 forward especially when he gets to play with a skilled C, see 45 pts in 58 games. Jost isn’t a bust his development should have included a year in the AHL, but he is still only 21 and imo develops into a solid middle 6 guy. That all being said the Avs don’t need a goalie, they have Grubauer and Francouz and in the system they Annunen and Werner. And no way they are trading Burakovsky.

Colorado wasn’t claiming anybody off waivers this year as they have too many guys they wouldn’t want to pass through waivers.

I will admit, I did underrated Jost... My opinion on the trade from PIT's POV still doesn't change tho, we're just giving up too much and not getting enough back to justify it imo

Young assets? Colorado already has Byram and Timmins pushing for roster spots on D. At forward they have Bowers, Kaut, and Newhook (though probably not for another year in Newhook). In the system beyond that they have Helleson on D (2nd rd 2019), at forwards they have guys like Ranta and Kovalenko. They aren’t making a trade for prospects at least one that isn’t an elite prospect.

I just don’t think the pens need to trade Murray this offseason, especially with his value this low

I don’t think the trade works for either team.

Just say no to Burakovsky. He is an invisible floater extraordinaire. Getting his act together for a couple months doesn't change that.

I dont think Jost is a bust... Its just that COL did a terrible job at bringing him along ... I still think he has tons of potential & mite need a change tho.

I agree with u bc I love Jost.... But COL did kinda screw up at bringing him along tho? IMO it mite be best for him for a change and a restart bc he could still be very good but his value has dipped some.
