Its Fun to Speculate on the Free Buyout

Created by: OldNYIfan
Team: 2020-21 Boston Bruins
Initial Creation Date: Mar. 23, 2020

Description
I saw a variation of this trade from a Vancouver guy directed to Columbus. I am modifying it to apply to Boston.

For everyone who thinks I'm nuts, I want you to know that (a) I'm drunk, and (b) I'm staring at a picture below the defense and goalie boxes of 4 girls in swimsuits, one of whom has a great navel ("Best Large Bust Swimwear").

Wouldn't the Nucks just buy out Eriksson themselves rather than risk trading their future starting goaltender?

There’s no such thing as a free buyout. There never has been. A compliance buyout? Sure.

At least, your contracts are almost perfect (realistic).

But B's just traded Backes, they won't take Eriksson nor they need Demko so forget that trade

Can't see the Nucks giving up anything when they can just buy Eriksson out them selves let alone giving up Demko

Remember the anecdote Steve McQueen tells in The Magnificent Seven about the guy who took off his clothes and jumped into a mess of cactus? It seemed like a good idea at the time.

If the NHL doesnt up the cap due to coronavirus, there have been talks (per an nhl insider) that there could be a free buyout. No details yet, but nothing wrong with speculation!
So please research before commenting

Good idea @OldNYIfan ignore this guy he just likes to start fights

First off yeah they wont take a cap dump for a goalie so I agree (also have Keyser so no need)
Second yeahAwesome contracts!
Lastly: dont like bcarlo25's comment, he is wrong, they have been discussing a buyout due to the cap not going up because of coronavirus. He just comes here to start fights

Compliance buy out. Not a free buyout. Free implies there is not an exchange of currency. Get your terminology right before commenting, bud.

I did, but I think it’s an important distinction to make. In a lot of markets the money matters as much as the cap hit, and an owner might not go for that.

You didn’t. I said compliance buy out and you apparently had no idea what that was because you rushed to tell me i was wrong, and to tell me to do my research before commenting.

You were wrong. Heed your own advice.

Nope. I know what a compliance buyout is. We are all talking about the same thing. We arent robots. The idea is that its a buyout that each team can do that wont count towards the cap. We know this, I hate that i have to explain it like im talking to a 5 year old

Do you understand that things can not count towards the cap, and still not be free? Do you get that teams care both about the cap, and about money?

I brought up the term compliance buyout, stating that it was different from a free buyout, and that a free buyout wasn’t a thing. Your response was taht i was wrong, and that nhl insiders have said there are talks around a free buyout. Not only is this not true (they use the term compliance), but it’s pretty solid evidence that you weren’t aware of what a compliance buyout was. Given that now you’re saying, “it’s the same thing,” wouldn’t you have just said that in the beginning?

Anyway, hope you’re having a good day little guy. You got any good xbox games to get you through the quarantine?

He acted like a child on another thread. Threw a tantrum when a couple people disagreed with him. He’s being treated as he deserves to be treated.

I would have guessed you were in high school. Still kind of guess that. Anyhow.

No. I mentioned compliance buyout and your response was, “NO. You’re wrong. Insiders are saying there’s a free buyout.” I think if you were at Harvard, MIT, Williams, or Amherst, you would probably understand that your post, and your knowledge of a compliance buyout, are mutually exclusive principles. My guess is that you’re a BC kid, and no, BC is not one of the top schools in the country. It’s not one of the top schools in the state.

Nope not BC. But it doesn’t matter. I don’t care anymore. You won’t listen, and people are seeing it! So I’m done

So you think Suffolk is a top school? Umass boston? Bunker hill community college?

The internet isn’t a place for the thin skinned man, maybe check out Hampshire. I hear they’ve stopped taking on new students, but maybe they’ll take you on.

Idk what your goal is here. I know my school is top in the country, and just because I’m not telling you doesn’t mean it isn’t. It means I don’t feel comfortable with you knowing because you don’t seem like the best person to know where I go to school lol. I would rather you not have that information. The fact that you are doing this, however, shows your immaturity, so I really don’t care if you continue. It just means nothing to me because you haven’t even guessed my school yet. Also no those three schools are not “good” (not to offend anyone there)
Also to clarify, showing how narrow minded you are. Just because I am a Boston fan (and not a bandwagon fan), doesn’t mean I go to college in mass

The top four colleges in the country are in mass.

Cheers, toddler.
