Nothing all that negative to say. I think Petey gets the long term deal and Hughes the bridge though. Good job.

Idk why, but I can see Petersen signing a 7Mx8Y deal. You're right though Hughes probably gets a bridge. Maybe 6.5M for 3/4 years

I've been doing 8y x 10M for petey and 3 y x 5.5M for Hughes, with the last year of Hughes contract structured at 8M.
10 is probably the market value in two years, especially if the cap rises. If it doesn't rise, 9.5 or9.25 x 8 (following at slightly greater than Barzal's).
10x8 is a major discount but I too won't rule it out - he is a great guy.

I don't think Petersen has sold himself for a 10x8 contract yet. He hasn't broke past of the 60 point range. That sends a dangerous message for any player that has 2 years of 60 points is automatically worth an 8 year 10M contract. Any player that gets 60 points consistently is worth 8M max in my opinion.

He's always been very close to a point per game pace though.
10 is a bit of a high price, but I don't like undershooting contracts. I think he will get a very similar contract to Barzal if he goes the long term route.

8 is a bit low, 10 is a bit high, 9 is the sweet spot.

Like that Tanev contract the Canucks would be dumb to give him anything longer than 3 years. I think Petey signs for more than 6.25, and why do we need De Melo and Martinez? Expensive 3rd pairing for a cap strapped team

Martinez is perfect for this team and he is a guy you want in the playoffs. He plays best on the 3rd pair with a shut down guy but can play good anywhere honestly. Maybe Benn Martinez instead, but I like DeMelo.
