Not being a smart ass or anything but which side is this trade bad for? I was thinking about Murray's value the other day while trying to make a trade and had no idea...I put a 2nd round pick as well.

definitely Murray has more value. I know Columbus was actually looking to trade him but I think they would want more than a second. He is a pretty solid top 4 defenseman who can help them out

Fair enough! I just know he is super injury prone so I took a bit of value off because of that aspect, as well as the plethora of LHD Columbus currently has. He is probably worth a little bit more though!

He isn't worth as much Columbus values but he still is a good player. A second and a 2 prospects would be good. Kinda like the Jake muzzin trade from last year but with a second instead of a first

I highly highly doubt that. Not sure you can make that comparison even with the down grade from a 2nd to a 1st. Murray isn't remotely as valuable as Muzzin was at that time. Not even close.

Maybe just a 2nd is low, fine that will depend on perspective and demand I guess but a 2nd and two prospects taken in the 2nd round like in the Muzzin deal? There really isn't anything to support anyone paying that. Ryan Murray hasn't accomplished even half of what Muzzin has, is very injury prone and makes more money than Muzzin did at the time of the trade.......

No Murray still has sometime to go. I'm not saying 2 valuable prospects like Vesilainen. I am saying 2 B prospects. Murray still has potential and if healthy will be a very good top 4 d man

The most I would add is a 4th.
@Ajp_18 for a CBJ value perspective.

yea ask Ajp_18. The most your adding is a 4th. Murray is way better than a late second and a late 4th

With the terms of Murray’s contract and his injury history and the state of where Columbus is as a team, Murray might have more value then a late second and 4th, but is probably take that as Murray would be 3rd pair in Columbus with Nuttivaara behind Werenski and Jones and Gavrikov and Savard. He also carries a 4.6 mil cap hit and is often injured so he really isn’t needed in Columbus.

A trade I’d much rather go for is a 2nd and a B/B- center prospect for Murray.

If you be patient Murray can be a very strong top 4 d man. I think it should be 2 b prospects and a second since the Winnapeg pick is prob gonna be late

There's only so much patience you can have when he expires at the end of the year. He won't be resigning because already CBJ features a left side with stronger members than him in the pipeline.

Ryan Murray is going to be 27 in September.
Jake Muzzin was 29 when he was traded.

How much potential does he still have to reach? "If healthy" is the main problem. He hasn't stayed healthy for all but ONE of his seasons in his career. Who is going to risk whatever full value is on Murray when they have virtually no guarantee. I mean its not like he has a great season to hang his hat on to.....

Ryan Murray is going to have to do a lot to be remotely close to where Muzzin was when he was traded. A lot.

But yeah if its a 2nd and two B prospects maybe that's fair. It'll come down to what you consider "B prospects". Are Durzi and Grundstrom B prospects? I think they are and I don't think it'll be two of those guys AND a 2nd. I think a 2nd rounder and a maybe one B-C prospect depending on that persons idea of what B/C is.

One big difference between Murray and Muzzin... Murray is a UFA after next season... Muzzin has at least 1 year left on his contract when he was traded. Columbus really can’t be patient with Murray or else they lose him for nothing.
