Flat cap

Description
The penguins could possibly shave some serious cap here.
The trade with TOR allows TOR to pick up a LD prospect who is getting ready to move up to the NHL level. The penguins who have a solid top 4, will be looking to add space.
But even if that trade does not go through, they have enough space to build the roster and increase the cap.
I think adding NV will be a huge increase over PH. Just in speed in style of play. The biggest hole on the team this year is not having a second RW who can play those top 6 minutes. They get one this offseason for sure.
They also sign Vesey who's size and speed will help them on the bottom 6.
They trust their youth on the RW mainly due to the fact that most of the other decent RW are older and expensive. No sense in breaking the bank there when you got 3 young forwards any one of which can step up and fill that role.

Last we reconstruct the bottom pair.
TVR will help round out the right side. A position they need to fill this offsesason. There are better defensemen available, but none of which are really 3RD. They have Letang and Marino to fill the top 4, they aren't going to spend big there as Marino gets a new contract next year.
On the LD I would like McD there from LA, but LA is thin on defense so I don't think they trade him. We sign MB from OTT, who can fill some 3rd pairing minutes. If he struggles than Riikola plays there.
I think this is a better team than this years team. And I finally solved the $23 error! Which is why I built the team to begin with.

TOR has tons of money, and no one to really buy out on their roster. TOR can easily compliance buyout JJ if they so choose and get a LD on a rookie deal in the process for their defensive troubles.

No reason to give up Joseph to cut Johnson's $3.25M.

I don't think Joseph ever plays for the penguins as long as JJ is on the team.
And while I think it might be possible to move him for less, the problem is the market will instantly be dried out and finding a replacement will be next to impossible.
Their ability to move JJ is around the context that FA has been picked and teams need defense. So if you wait to move him, then you have the issue of who replaces him. The only way to avoid that is move him early. To move him early you will have to give something up.
Either way you will be giving something up. A. to move him, B to replace him. As I don't see Joseph being that guy, at least not next year.

Everything’s pretty good. Forward depth is a bit lacking. I know by know you don’t like Erod and Simon but in the case you dish their rights for a late pick then another bottom-6 forward is in order.
