Will Alexis Lafreniere Be A Bust

Created by: AnalyticsGeek
Team: 2020-21 Detroit Red Wings
Initial Creation Date: Mar. 25, 2020
Published: Mar. 25, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
A lot of people believe Alexis Lafreniere is going to be a bust. Obviously anything can happen, but does his game seem like it will translate well to the NHL? His speed is decent, but he doesn’t have that big explosive skating stride that lets him burn opposing players. He’s not very flashy with the puck but seems very efficient. Outstanding awareness. I’ve noticed that he works pretty hard off the puck too. He goes to the dirty areas, he battles and hits. Seems like a complete player.

Hes not comparable to any NHL player imo but he will be somewhere between Hall and Crosby level

Lecavlier , he's comparable to him just not a Center

he misunderstood

TSN690 was talking about him being like Patrick Nolan and being picked over
i never heard anything about a bust just that some question if Stutzle success vs profesional men hasnt earned him favor pointing out Lafrenierre unlike Matthews chose to stay and play vs less competition.

i dont think anyone would think he's a bust
i just think he's more a of a Lecavlier then a Crosby

Some have compared him to Peter Forsberg. I can see the similarities with the way they use their size & how they handle the puck. Others have said he’s similar to Mark Stone & Jamie Benn.

It's a freaking joke? Alexis Lafreniere is nowhere near bust territory. And if Detroit does land the #1 overall pick it's definitely not for this. And all of your signings Bertuzzi, Mantha and Murray are way over-priced.

Maybe because you don't give up a potential franchise player for a goalies who's numbers have been trending down since he last won the cup. This is pure laughable if you think Detroit would ever make this deal. It's pure trash for us.

Hes a mix of a bunch of players but all i know is he will have a bunch of 3-4 pt games in the NHL. Where he dominates the stat sheet

I think that it's way too early to consider him being a potential bust.

Let's have this discussion in 2023.

Until then, nothing short of Matthews (or something in that ballpark) will not move the pick that gets Lafreniere, no matter which team we're talking about.

IMO he is something between those two but winger. If Huberdeau had superstar potential basically.

Pittsburgh has some great players but most of them are 30 and older. So if your favorite team had the #1OA pick what would it take for Pittsburgh to get that pick?

A troll post is one that states the player most pundits believe is a sure fire NHL'er and then trades a goalie who has not been very good this year and has lost his starting job is traded for said prospect.

In other words this post. Wings could trade that pick for a lower pick and more or a package of young players and picks not a a goalie who is not the starter and will try to command a large salary.

Do you really believe Wings would trade 1st overall for Murray?

At this point Laffy Taffy is almost untouchable.
if he were to be traded that price is too small.
also Its too early to tell if hes a bust yet.

That is a MASSIVE overpayment for Matt Murray. He is nowhere near that worth. That would have to be the worst contract in the NHL. I'd say he's worth around 3-5 million.
