Part 1 - 2019-2020 Pittsburgh Penguins - WHAT WE SHOULD HAVE DONE-Deadline

Description
_______________________________________________________________________________________

This is Part 1 of a 2 Part 2019 - 2021 Pittsburgh Penguins from this past Trade Deadline
** (If The Pens did NOT make the Panic Buffalo & SJ Trades) **

______________________________________________________________________________________

CAP SPACE - would have been fine bc GUENTZEL was supposed to be on LTIR until mid Playoffs
* Plus I have 24 Roster players (to show Depth)

_______________________________________________________________________________________

HOW GREAT WOULD HAVE THAT 59-87-67 LINE BEEN ???

* IMO Rakell is a Right handed Jake Guentzel that overflows w/ insane Hockey Sense & is extremely under rated player.
Rakell could have helped so much more not just as a 5 on 5 player but with -
On a struggling PP by playing on Left wall & w/ Zone entries where 67 is very good.

I wish. Maybe pens add either hallender or Joseph to the ducks trade though just to make it a little more fair. Take out almedia and Rikola.

Joseph or Hallender
Kahun
2021 first

For
Rakell

Yeah could be, maybe ducks send us back a piece as well. The way I look at it:

Rakell = Zucker

2020 first > 2021 first
Addison > Hallender or POJ

So kahun is there to make up the difference but you’re right, pens should receive something back from ducks

Having RR would give us a stacked top-6!
Zucker-Crosby-Rakell
Guentzel-Malkin-Rust
Plus his contract is great!

Although I wonder because Anaheim traded Kase to Boston if they would have wanted to take 2 of their best forward pieces away in one deadline...but I know at least a conversation was had between Rutherford and bob Murray had at least one conversation at the deadline because they’re essentially BFFs. How many trades have they made with each other?

I'd agree with that trade too. I think i was trying to add a younger already NHL player in Riikola bc they have so many Prospects at C, RW, & LHD on ANA.

Yah it would have really helped to have another "real" Top 6 forward & take some of pressure off of 87 & 71 having a great scorer like Rakell & Guentzel in line-up. Bc this is the point in 87 & 71 career where they need other elite players around them to step up so 87 & 71 dont have to every nite.
** yes I totally agree about Rakell contract too - He does have the best Player to Contract in NHL who isnt an Elite type top 5 to 10 player.

I usually agree with GMJR but I think the Pens really blew it on Kahun trade bc for a young 2nd yr Top 6 to Top 9 player on a controlled contract .... they should have got way more than the panic trade in Sheary & E-Rod. IDK, just think Kahun had more value than that.

I agree he botched that trade. Next year my lines would’ve been: (without any other moves other than trading Jugs)

Zucker-Sid-Simon
Jake-Malkin-Rust
Kahun-McCann-Horny
ZAR-Blueger-Tanev

I’m disappointed in Rutherford kahun trade. Seemed unnecessary. I was good with marleau but he should’ve stopped there
