If Eichel goes, which could happen if the Sabers continue to miss the playoffs I just do not see him going to the Rangers, I see him going to either the AVS or Canadiens .

Chicago or Philly could also work.

the sabres won't make the playoffs anytime soon. Skinner contract just killed them for another 8 years

For sure. Other than the picks, which are honestly overvalued when you look at the probability of landing a star, NYR already has pieces that replace what they give up. Bad move for Buffalo - they'd be better off getting a top-5 pick and a proven young NHLer if they want to move Eichel. And nobody gives up their top-5 picks these days.

Philly has a good system going for them and sure eichel is a massive boost I just dont know if they want to ruin the teams chemistry. they have amazing chemistry rn and breaking it up could be risky. As for Chicago it may be very risky having 3 guys making 10 million with no LTIR capacity next season. unless buffalo retains I just dont see chicago taking him.

laugh laugh Basically trash for Eichel, Andersson is trash Strome isn't all that. Trouba is over-paid by one million. Georgiev a backup and picks. Yeah without Kakko being included in the deal. Eichel to the Rangers isn't happening.

Colorado couldn’t afford Eichel with landeskog, makar, their 2 goalie to extend and girard extension kicking in. By 2022 they will face the same problem then tampa and toronto and Mackinnon will get paid in 2023. He will certainly double up is actual cap hit.

Any team trading for Eichel would be gutting their farm,, Can't see teams giving up what it would take to land Eichel.

Montreal can offer domi, caufield, this year first round pick and next year first round pick. And some second tier prospect to go along. Norlinder, or Jacobson,

Well he isn't wrong? Your proposal come nowhere near getting Eichel. Like i stated Andersson is trash Strome is having his best season of his career. But he's still not a main piece going back. Trouba is over-paid by one million. Georgiev will be a really good backup but not at the price of Eichel. This trade doesn't make the Sabres any better actually makes them worse.

Is there any Eichel trade that could possibly make the Sabres better? Idk, maybe but I doubt it, the guy is elite, it'd have to be a major return to replace him and make the Sabres better.

the simple answer is yes, if a deal was structured around bringing in quantity that could fill in the top 6. hockey is not a sport that favors 1 all-star on a team.
Eichel has proved he can't do it himself. the guy puts the team on his back pretty much every night and Sabres management has failed him.

the difficult thing is determining what the return would/should be. in my opinion there isn't a pick or a prospect involved. the trade needs to be made with a team that is just starting a rebuild and needs to unload.

Eichel is an elite 1C, that is the hardest position to fill,
sorry I just don't see an Eichel trade that would make the Sabres better. No one guy can do it by himself but the Sabres aren't that terrible, just need the GM to add a few pieces and they should be a playoff team at least, they also have some good prospects in the system, the future still looks bright if they don't
f@ck it up.

Make an ACGM of an Eichel trade that makes the Sabres better, I'd be interested to see it.

I understand your point, but an elite 1C on a team full of trash means nothing.
the team has no goaltending, no center depth, no serviceable middle 6...

they have a decent core, but that is to be expected when they have had a top 10 pick for most of the 2000. they lack maturity and experience.
are they still rebuilding from 2014? the answer should be no, they should be trading every pick and prospect they have to build around: Eichel, Skinner, Reinhart, Kahun, Olofsson, Montour, Dahlin and Jokiharju - eventually around Cozens and maybe Mittelstadt. if their name isn't listen above, they should be fired into the sun.

Okay so what is it then, trade Eichel or not cause you're contradicting yourself now? Lol

Really they lack a 2C and pretty much an entire 3rd line, if they sign the right guys in UFA this summer as placeholders and keep building through the draft they should turn things around, just can't rush it and make any dumb trades.

Not contradicting myself. You asked a question and I semi-answered. I didn’t say it was the right or wrong thing, just that in theory it could be done.

As for the team itself, they need to build through trades, not the draft or FA. There isn’t a soul in the NHL that would sign in Buffalo unless they overpaid. And drafting is just kicking the can down the road. For the sake of Eichel, they need to be in playoff mode, not patience mode. They have been building through the draft since 2010, hasn’t gotten them very far now, has it?

A 2C and entire 3rd line is exactly what I was talking about in my above post. No serviceable middle 6...
