Leafs reject that. No need to overpay for a decent defenseman that would cost a lot less

Does Brodin have experience playing on the right?

I don't get that NYI trade from Wild's perspective. They get nothing but a bust prospect in return for two decent assets and Parise who has been pretty good for last two years. There's nothing in it for them.

Getting rid of the contract is nice, but when he's performing well, it's just illogical to move him for nothing.

No thanks on the Leafs trade. We need centers, not more wingers.

Also thanks on the NYI trade. I'd rather have Parise, even if his contract is long. Just use the cbo on him if we get one.

His body won't keep up. Shedding long term cap is Key for any NHL team

Yes. Other Wild fans may disagree with me but I've never liked him on the right side (and that's what Toronto needs obviously). This year was the first year he played fully on the left and whaddya know he had a career year (and at least my opinion was our best defenseman). Toronto should look at other players to solve their RD issues.

Honestly, even if he is 80% of the player on the right that he is on the left, he'd still be a good option for the Leafs. He just fits the bill of what they need perfectly except for the handedness. So as long as he is able to play the right, I think the Leafs are interested. I question whether the fit is there though, as MIN is looking for more centers, but it sure would be nice.

Then instead of making a sh*t trade shouldn't they use the potential CBO on him?

That'd keep them from getting the cap recapture penalty as well.

Highly doubt that a cost controlled team like MIN would fork out money for another decade on Cbo.

They absolutely would if that means it won't affect their cap.
