That’s an easy match by the Islanders, even if Barzal signed such a low offer which he wouldn’t.

Not sure what you are trying to prove here? The Ottawa trade is incredibly unrealistic, Vancouver already has great center depth and likely isn't trying to move it, and Barzal has to want to sign the offer sheet too. No team is going to offer him 8.5M for 3 years, maybe 5 or 6 but not 3. For only 3 years, I dont really see why he should get much more than the Point contract

Columbus wouldn’t present marner with a 3 year offersheet, but I’m sure Vancouver will offersheet barzal at 3 years when they have to pay boeser, Hughes, and Peterson 1-2 years after.

Without markstrom, this is still a 1st rd exit team. He needs to be re-signed.

Thats the point I'm trying to prove. Islanders fans think they can get him for under 7 million on a 3 year bridge.

That's because the compensation for Marner was 4 1st round picks. Here it's much less.

Gotcha. Barzal is a 1C the Islanders should get a long term deal done now, it will save them money down the line.

Okay but in one year they will have 20 million in cap space due to expiring contract and if you add another 3 for cap going up then they have 23 million next season and likely 30+ million in 2 years.

Not true . Columbus wasn’t offering more than 10.5 over 3 years. It’s actually 2 1sts, 2nd and a 3rd

Wrong he wanted 12.5 million for 4 years... Columbus said it's too much money.

Nope, he’ll get somewhere between 7-7.5 on a 3 year bridge.

If barzal had arbitration rights, he would not get 8 + on a 3 year deal.

Jesus Christ. Matched. You think Lou is letting Barzal walk for that? He already said Isles will match anything.

no one is offering him that much for 3 years - isles would still match but at this AAV teams will want barzal to commit for 5 years

Canucks have over 20 million in cap space next year. What would that offersheet look like? 16 million for 5 years?

Once again the point of this post was to point out that Barzal will get more than 7 million next season.

Depends on what they offer sheeted Barzal for. We are going according to this post right. Barzel gets offer from Vancouver, Islanders let him walk and Islanders offer sheet Pettersson next year.

If we go off his post they will have over 20 million in cap space next year assuming the cap doesnt change... if they don't sign Barzal they will have 29 million... they have a lot of big contracts coming off the book.

I thought of a better idea. Offer sheet for 4 years and walk him to UFA. Then he can go home like Tavares.

And no defense or goalie. They will use that cap up, if they offer sheet Barzal for what ever this stupid post said, I would offer sheet Pettersson for Marner money and see what Vancouver does with that.

Other than the fact that Islanders would match. I'd take Barzal and 3 1sts over Pettersson.

First will be late rounders and Pettersson is going tto be a very special player. I watch him a lot. We both know Islanders would match that in a second. but your point on this thread is if they dont, am I correct?

Yes every player wants to leave the islanders - great idea!

It seems like the honeymoon is over with Tavares. All you have to do is type tavares in twitter search and more than half the comments are from leafs fans calling him the worst captain in leafs history and how the leafs will be crippled by his contract in a few years - enjoy!
