My guess would be Bobrovsky. Saving money big time and also freeing themselves from the risk.

Hmm, true, but would Panthers ownership pay so much dead money?

Yeah if they want to prevent the sinking ship to sink further.

That bob contract is atrocious if he doesn't find his game.

Would definitely be interesting to see what happens in Florida if Comp buyouts do happen, that contract can cripple FLA if he doesn't figure it out fast

I think signing Bobrovsky and then one year later eating such a big contract would be professional suicide for the GM.

This. I think most of the fans suggesting a GM buy out a player 1 year into their deal don't seem to realize ownership groups wouldn't look favorably on this. They're businessmen in this to make money. If they happen to win a Cup and make more money in the process is only a bonus.

Absolutely 100% right. I can visualize the scene now: GM enters the team president's office. "Joe, I made a terrible mistake with that Slobodnik signing. We'll have to eat $6 million per year for the next 5 seasons." Joe says, "That's okay, Fred." [Joe stands up, comes around his desk, claps Fred on the back, and ushers him toward the door.] "I really admire your coming in here and admitting that like a man." [Pause] "Follow Slobodnik out the door, Joe. Good luck!"

They could trade him to Toronto with a big sweetener going back.
