I'd use our buyout as a trade chip to help other teams which have loads of terrible contracts, and need to get rid of more than one.

I went with a parcel bc he only had 12goals to JVRs 19,
and he was 1.25mil more cap hit

Parise played well this season, and Zuccarello was decent.
I picked Rask bc they only play him 10:29 a night, so obviously they don’t think much of him. 4mil is just too much. They could replace him with a 1mil guy & use the 3mil towards someone actually productive

He was my 1st thought, BUT he actually played well this season & the Pens played him almost 20min a night
I figured they’d keep him over Bjugstad bc he blows,
and they’d get more of a savings
Plus it’s easier to replace a below average 3C with a 1mil player than it is to do so with a top4 defenseman

Dubinsky would save 1mil more, but he’s only got 1 year left & Wennberg has 3

Yes, Parise has a good year, but he is old, injury prone, and has 100 years left on his current deal.
You are right about Zuccarello - he was decent, but just barely. He is old, and has 4 years left on a contract paying him $6million per. He’s the no-brainer pick by a landslide! Old+Unproductive+Not a good fit+Lots of $+Lots of term=send him packing!

Not necessarily. Wennberg at least provides value to the team. He might be overpaid but he provides a value to the team as he can still play 2nd/3rd line center.

He had 5 goals & 22pts this year,
2 goals & 25pts last year...
For almost 5mil per
