I did mock drafts of every first round for Every team from 2010 all the way to 2019. (2019 stayed the same because its too early to tell). Now I wanted to see what the core of some teams could've looked like if teams drafted according to my mock drafts. Keep in mind I was simply drafting off of best available, not positional needs at the time.

I'll keep players who were drafted before 2010 on the team

2015 29th overall- Andrew Mangiapane +137 spots (Gabriel Carlsson)
2016 3rd overall-Charlie Mcavoy +11 spots (Pierre-Luc Dubois)
2018 18th overall- Ty Smith -1 spot (Liam Foudy)
If the drafting fell like this, they would have a deeper forward core than they do now and a strong defensive core to build around. If they are able to figure out the goalie situation, this would be a pretty solid team. Positional needs would be to first find a goalie, a 2nd line center and a 2nd pairing LD. For the job the Blue Jackets have done in real life drafting, I'll say they earned a C, nothing crazy special but also not a ton of terrible mistakes when drafting.
