If a Laffy tournament required our best possible roster

Created by: Caboose119z

Description
The roster iced this year cleary wasn't built to win.
If it all of a sudden had to win a tournament to earn Lafreniere this is the best they'd be able to do given their health. Assuming DeKeyser and Gagner are ready. DDK gets the third A since Abby and Frans are scratched.

Sam Gagner is so interesting. People act like he's so terrible. He's waived and scratches all the time but here he is being put on a second line.

Hes more of a 4th liner but hes still talented enough to be a sort of pp specialist. Those skills just dont translate to 5v5

I love how a team that’s been trying to tank the entire season may now have to win games to get first overall

It is really dumb. Like if they can play a lottery tournament once CoVid-19 is controlled, wouldn’t they be able to finish the season, play the playoffs and do everything the same way it’s usually done?

It could be beneficial to bring lost revenue to the league, if they're not able to have time to play the last 10 games.

Yes but you really want to gift the Rangers or Jets, Lafreniere? Like is that fair? And Ottawa has SAN Jose’s pick. So what would stop them from losing on purpose?

No. This is one team who submitted it and probably a team just outside the playoff spot trying to find a way to win the lottery lol

He's 205th on goals and 184th in points over the last 6 years http://hkref.com/tiny/SeAct for forwards. Considering 90 forwards per line it makes him a high end 3rd liner.

(It drops to 281 and 232 in per game numbers making him an okay 3rd liner.)

He has 4 more points in 4 more games than Eric Haula.

He seems to be hated for what he isn't, instead of appreciated for what he is which is an okay somewhat one dimension 3rd line C.

4th liners don't score 35+ points

Erik haula isnt very good though so comparing the two isnt good. This season he only has 10 5v5 points in 42 games. The majority of his points come from playing on the pp. Hes pretty much like spezza where he has some offensive value at 5v5 but hes most useful on the powerplay. Hes not as good as spezza but spezza isnt more then a 4th liner either. Neither are great skaters and neither are strong defensively but both have good hands, great vision and above average shots.

If you isolate all 3 players 5v5 impact they're above average 4th liners who need to be sheltered but both spezza and gagner are still so talented that they will get the majority of their points on the pp. Spezza hasn't been given a chance on the pp because the leafs are stacked but if you look at his 5v5 stats hes only got 18 points, pretty much a 4th liner

A fair bit of that is usage though too. What are their per minute rates?
