Well Wright just outperformed McD's D-2 year in the OHL in just about every stat... On a terrible Kingston team (ik they made the playoffs, but they had like the third worst record in the league) and he was like a week younger than McD was

I have an app on my phone called HLM 20, it's almost like NHL 20 except you don't play the games. In the drafts Wright always ends up to be a 90+ overall player at the end of a few seasons so that's why I have Wright over Bedard and I also don't really know who Bedard is, lol

Thanks for the information, you are correct. I know he’s gonna be a superstar, but I haven’t seen much talk about him going to be at McDavid’s level & all that. Bedard seems to have been getting the generational talent hype since 2018. Perhaps that’s changed.

Bedard is a 14 year old he was just granted exceptional status into the WHL.

I don't know much about Bedard, I think we'll have to see how he does in WHL next year to have an accurate picture of any comparison with Wright. What Wright did in the OHL this year was exceptional.

I’ve followed Bedard a bit in the CSSHL. He’s an exceptional talent. But he also seems like a selfish player. He likes to stick handle through the entire team & take a shot rather than make a pass to an open teammate. Granted his teammates are way below his level, he will need to work on his playmaking & decision making in the WHL.

I mean it's not really a fair comparison when talking about potential, Pasta is what he is (obv very good, but we know that, he's not gonna get much better) while Laf is 18, he could easily become better, but that's no guarentee, he could also end up way worse

That’s a difficult one. Pastrnak is one of the most complete wingers in the game. He scores goals, is a good playmaker, has great hands, is physical, is good defensively & is willing to go to the dirty areas. Lafreniere seems to play a very similar game, though I don’t think he’ll score as many goals. But if he ends up with a playmaker like Larkin or Eichel, then who knows. However, Lafreniere is putting up better numbers than MacKinnon’s last season in the Q. That’s worth noting because Lafreniere’s team in Rimouski is weaker than Nate’s Halifax. They don’t have another talent like Drouin & Weegar.

It is an odd match up, agreed. But it'll be hard for Lafreniere to match Pastrnak's production so far: over the past 4 seasons he's scored more goal than every player not named Ovechkin or Matthews, and is 8th in the NHL in points, 1 ahead of Crosby. That's heady company.

Yeah there are not many players who are capable of performing at Pastrnak’s level, but that’s what I expect from Lafreniere.
