Provorov is improving drastically year by year... I think he has the ability to push for Norris votes in his time in this league. No way for this trade.

I just don't see why they would move him with his insanely good contract and his high potential. And the fact that they are one of the best teams

I'd say it's close. Provy is a better defender, Nurse has more offense to his game.

I mean Provy is like average defensively (Nurse... Isn't, but iirc Nurse is well above average offensively... Provy isn't)

Given that the flyers defense core already has offensive guys in Sanheim, Niskanen and Ghost, Provorov is exactly the need they require and he won't be moved. Say what you want about Ghost, but I'm not risking both him and Nurse falling back offensively or the entire team would collapse.

The issue isn't about value, it's about needs. Flyers don't need offensive guys on the back end. They'd be asking for Klefbom.

I mean you can take Nurse and then flip Bouchard for a super solid defender. This seems like a no-brainer. I mean Anaheim would easily do Manson for Bouchard. Minnesota would probably do Brodin for Bouchard. Not sure why you'd turn it down if you're a smart GM...

Ty, I couldn't remember what Nurse's RAPM looks like (I don't have an EH subscription, but I did see Provy's a few days ago) but yeah, p much what I expected, I didn't think he'd be that bad defensively, but I'd still take him (slightly) over Provy

To me this shows more about how Provorov is balanced and Nurse is strong in one zone. And given that he gets powerplay time on a much stronger powerplay, these numbers are inflated.

Why I am completely against this is the Nurse extension. 5.6x2 is awful given that Provorov is already on a at-value contract and is exceeding year over year. I'd much rather the 4 extra years of him than the potential of making bouchard work.

You don't get top pair defensemen on contracts like this every day. As I said already, Provorov has the Norris within reach at some point in his career. I don't see the same future for Nurse and / or Bouchard. Especially given that Nurse' future with PHI would only be two years.

What's funny about associating Provorov with a Norris isn't that he's not even remotely a top 5 dman in his division (you could make an argument for top 10 maybe). But that he'd be the 4th best dman on Carolina right now lol

I didn't say he is now. But his improvements with each year put him on an eventual Norris pace. I don't think it's out of his reach, he has a lot left to show and he is still young. I am a Pesce fan and I am well aware of his value, but I don't think he is a better overall defenseman than Provorov. They both are on good contracts so probably equate to similar trade value, but the choice of defenseman cap aside goes to Provorov.

Bouchard is never going anywhere. If you need another defenseman to be added, look at Bear, but even that’s too much.

Nurse gets rarely any minutes on that 1st unit with Draisaitl, McDavid and RNH. Those go to Klefbom or Bear
