Eichel and cap drop plus compliance buyout

Created by: OutCold13
Team: 2020-21 Minnesota Wild
Initial Creation Date: Mar. 27, 2020
Published: Mar. 28, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Obviously Sabres don't trade Eichel unless he is begging to get out. Not sure I'm offering the right pieces but I think value is close. This also assumes a salary cap drop + compliance buyout.
Dubnyk is not a LTIR just put him there assuming Wild waive him to AHL and he doesn't report.

I dont think Minnesota has the assets to acquire a player of Eichel's caliber without drafting one

I'd buy Parise out with the compliance buyout. Saves you from the cap recapture penalty once he inevitably calls it career before his contract runs out.

It's a good debate, but Parise is more likely to except a LTIR.

Kaprizov, Fiala, Brodin, Dumba, plus 4 1sts in the next 3 years. Wild have the assets, but how much are they willing to give up?

Sabres aren't moving Eichel until after he refuses to re-sign in the last year of his current deal. That said, Sabres don't want or need Dumba and everything listed isn't enough to just get Eichel let alone throwing in Montour. Pathetic effort.

They absolutely do, it's just a matter of determining what's the absolutely most you're comfortable giving up and then give some more.

    Eichel isn’t going anywhere,
BUT if for some crazy reason the Sabres were to trade him...
It would have to include an A+ prospect to even start the convo
Then add multiple 1sts and a good roster player or 2

I just don’t think Boldy is on that level

The recapture on Parise is manageable for MN if he isn't traded. The big numbers only hit if he's traded and MN is locked in at the $20m+ number. He'll get LTIR with his history of back problems. Plus he's better than Zucc. Spurgeon is the one I'd use a compliance buyout on, but that's a different discussion.

MN could put deal together for Eichel, but it would be a deal that would hurt a Fiala+Kaprizov+JEE type of trade.

1 I know sabres are not shopping Eichel. If you could direct your eyes to the team explanation you would understand that.
2 two A prospects, 2 first round picks and a cheap top 6 center plus a top pair defenseman is a very good offer it may take the addition of 1 of Fiala, or Kaprizov, it would really depend on what other teams were willing to offer, but it is far from a pathetic effort.

Would really depend on how Sabres viewed Boldy and Beckman, Boldy had a slow start last year but finished up very strong so I suspect his value in most organizations is still high. Ultimately if Eichel did demand a trade it would be a bidding war and the highest bidder would win so it really is impossible to asses his exact value.

    I can’t imagine they’re seen as “A+” prospects
    You’re reaching imo

    This may be closer:
    Eichel, Jack
    for
Fiala, Kevin Left Wing -- shoots L
Donato, Ryan Center -- shoots L
Kunin, Luke Center -- shoots R
    2020 1st round pick (MIN)
    2021 1st round pick (MIN)
    2022 2nd round pick (MIN)

Montour not included. Take out Dumba's 50 pt season and Dumba > Montour. But I only get to watch Montour and not Dumba that much, but Brandon is really very good.

Staal is old and the Sabres aren't anywhere near going for it so that is a piece they wouldn't need. Only want futures if you're trading Eichel. There would definitely need to be at least 1 A+ can't miss prospect. You could argue Dumba is a downgrade and he's definitely not a definite top 2. Still not close.
