I would certainly do this, but why would he waive?

last i remember Tyler Johnson is bad and has no competitiveness to his game. the only thing that makes this trade necessary is that the leafs could free up cap, but they don't and instead it becomes an over payment.

I would love Tavares but this makes TB's cap situation even worse.

Tavares isn't waiving for Tampa, And Tampa isn't giving away Cerlli. Neither team does this.

Nothing very intriguing imo. I like Cirelli but he's nowhere near Tavares. Cernak is good but Tyler Johnson is a cap dump, and the Leafs give up Dermott? Just not enough there

u kidding me sign some people, Tavares coming to Toronto to play for his home team was his dream and he took way less money and more term to do so. I would go off but I will let someone else do it for me

Toronto trading tavares right after we named him captain would make our organization look like a joke and ufas would stay clear of us

Have the Leafs been any better or gotten any farther since they signed Tavares?

Nope they haven't, just created a massive cap problem for themselves and traded away the cheapest 2C in the league for a defensively inept UFA dman and a 3C, like I said, signing Tavares was a mistake, he's a great player but the Leafs didn't need him.

eh people waive.

My point is, he's still got a lot in the tank. They won't move him till they start seeing a decline.

Cirelli is a perfect #2 center and going to be 5 million dollars cheaper than tavares. Sure he isn't as offensively gifted but pure points isn't everything. I'm not against trading Tavares but with Tampa and the cap issues it would be hard to take him on.

I dont see him waiving it. He probably has more 80point seasons leaft in him. He probs would have done it again this year but the injury stopped that

That's my point. He has lots in the tank they won't move him till they think they are nearing the end of that. You have to get out at the right time. Which is when they still look good.
Otherwise no one will take that contract. So at least 2 more years. Makes teams think they are getting something out of him at 32 but most of us realize guys are on the decline then and while they may have a year or two left, the writing is on the wall shortly and why be stuck holding on at 34.

Not that guys can't play well at 34. Some can. But if they were going to move him, I'd have to think that is the calculation that is going on.

lets hope as he gets older he can at least keep a 50point production lul. If he can play like spezza, marleau, and thorton but with better point production than i have no worry for him
