I'd rather have DeHaan than Andreas.

Decent chance Shaw and Seabrook are out for the year. I would buy out Maatta

Doesn't make much sense for the Leafs. Leafs don't need DeHaan or minor leaguer Sikura. If the Leafs need cap space, they would use a compliance buyout on Johnson or just trade him form7th rounder if possible.

We’re not playing this year, and we don’t want to burn a year or his ELC for nothing.

When the offseason officially hits we will sign him.

You sign him starting with 20-21 can’t you? Btw congrats on keeping your job into next year!

I think if he is on the reserve list during this season it burns a year.

Seabrook compliance even if he's out for the year makes more sense than Maatta. Seabrook is owed more cash, and would cost several million per year before dropping off to hundreds of thousands, where buying out Maatta would only cost 680K for 4 years.

Seabrook is unlikely to end up on the IR the rest of his career, and costs much more. Using the compliance on Maatta is financially illogical.

De Haan is an interesting case, but agreed. The hawks have tons of middle six forwards that they can't seem to gel. Maybe they can use his speed? It's a weird offseason. It's really tough to determine what the hawks need in this "Transition period" (I don't even know if that's the right term). I don't think it's realistic for Mitchell and Carlsson to make this team, especially with the cap space available. Does Strome even get resigned? Where does he even fit? Too many questions, not enough answers.

Trevor Zegras just signed 3 yr 925k starting 20/21 and ending 22/23. Contract doesn’t begin until July 1 2020

Scott powers wrote an article about this yesterday. They are waiting to see if the season will start before signing him. Zegras and Mitchell are in different situations.

I’m not trying to argue with you. I just don’t understand. Zegras plays at BU and Mitchell at Denver U. So they’re in the same situation.

I’m just growing nervous that Mitchell won’t sign.
