Prospect Pool

Created by: Silkysmooth42
Team: 2019-20 Boston Bruins
Initial Creation Date: Mar. 28, 2020
Published: Mar. 28, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Saw someone do this and its a really good idea. Especially considering some recent posts where people have not know the bruins prospects well at all. Also the bruins prospect pool has been ranked near the bottom of the league, but clearly this isnt true as bruins have drafted well and the lists left out or underrated a few of the players.

TO CLARIFY: I am calling most of the young players Prospects even if they arent NHL's description of a prospect. Like Karson Kuhlman, because of how many games he has played, i dont think he is a "prospect", but for logics sake, he is a prospect.

PLEASE, let me know if I messed anything up, BUT do not comment with your opinions, it should be based by logic and fact. (Example, if I say Kakko is an elite prospect, and you say he isnt because he has had a bad year this year, you are wrong. One "bad" year doesnt kill his value)
Be kind and Logical!

LW: Elite Prospect
C: Top 6 F or First to good Second Dpair
RW: Middle 6 F or Second to good Third Dpair
LHD: Bottom 6 F or Third Dpair or 7th man
RHD: Other
Goalies: My order of the prospects, LMK if I am wrong!

Lastly, I kept Bjork and Clifton cuz they have space to develop!

(LAST NOTE: I went back and Added McAvoy, Carlo, Debrusk, and Griz because they are all young and still developing so I wanted to include them to show where they are and how good the young team looks! Mcavoy is Elite and will become even more Eilte. Debrusk is currently top 6 and can become eilte given a little more time. Carlo is top 4 right now, and will likely remain there but get better too. And Griz is arguably on the verge of top 4, but will 100% be top 4 within a year)

Debrusk is not elite. The top six tier is very inflated, most of those guys are clearly bottom sixers

I read everything or so

Maybe change " elite prospect " to " elite potential "
Otherwise I wouldn't have McAvoy, DeBrusk, Carlo, Bjork, Grzelcyk, Kuhlman, Clifton, Lauzon, Blidh. Too much pro/NHL experience IMO.

Personally, by potential

Studnicka: Top6 F
Beecher: Middle-six F
JFK: 3rd liner
Senyshyn: Middle-six F
Lauko: Middle-six F
Steen: Bottom-six F
Frederic: Bottom-six F
Hall: Bottom-six F

Vaakanainen: Top4 D (if not 1st pair)
Zboril: Top6 D

G are hard to predict but I feel like all three (Vladar, Swayman, Keyser) have the potential to play at NHL level, whatever it is as fringe starter or backup.

Hughes, Fitzgerald, Koppanen, Sherman: don't see them as regular NHLers (best case: 4th line) or AHLers

Idk enough/yet: Shen, Ahcan, Wolff, Berglund, Bychkov, Clarke, McFaul, Mantykivi, Olson, Schmaltz

To recap, I understand why some people don't necessarily say that the Bruins' prospect pool is one of the best because it's not.

But it's not " bad " either. Not as much as they think.

It's hard to be among a contender for the Cup and have a top10 prospect pool. But I think the Bruins have done well (drafting) even with some 2nd/3rd or late picks. Also, the NCAA signings.

I think you're a little optimistic on Bjork, Kuhlman and Zboril, but by and large this seems right on to me. As @bhavikp27 says, the Bruins have done well assembling a prospect pool while being Stanley Cup contenders.

Bjork has had top6 potential. Unfortunately, he got injured twice in his first two years. Both times shoulder and long-term. He played in the top9/top6. This year, he has mostly played on third line with Charlie Coyle and has been good. Tbh, he does every little thing but doesn't get rewarded with production, enough. Before this season, I was expecting him to be an offensive player and okay defensively. Cassidy and the B's want him to be a two-way player and it has worked well. Has been excellent defensively and gets PK time sometime. I would give him some PP time as well but Bruins coaching staff don't do it for whatever reason. I still have him as a player with top6 potential but B's need to give him more opportunities.

Kuhlman, like him but I will say it: He's a bottom-6 player, at least if he's a regular. Yes, he's had good games with Krejci on the 2nd, can score and everything but he isn't top6 player. His two-way game, his energy and his speed can help him be a good 3rd/4th liner. Nothing bad with having a player like him, down in the lineup. With Kase's addition, I was excited to see him on 4th (maybe) but hasn't happened yet.

Zboril, still confident he can be a good top6 defensive D. If not in Boston, somewhere else but he can make it to the NHL.

Nope! Top 15 pick, already a top 6 guy, tough and still has room to grow!

His "elite peers" have already taken a large step ahead of him. Its very unlikely he becomes more than a 60 point guy ever

So we agree on pretty much everything escept for fredrick and Steen, which is fine because those two are up in the air anyway!

And we agree about this! Im not tryna say they have a top pool, not even top 10 or top 15, but to say they are bottom 5 is completely ridiculous and these "experts" really should reconsider

Who knows maybe Kuhlman, but the way I see it, Bjork and Kuhlman are already solid middle six guys (both can play the 3rd line well), and both have also shown flashes of good top 6 (2nd line) play. So I dont think they are top 6 yet, but given three more years to develop in the league I think top 6 is more than fair.
Zboril wont be top 4 gauranteed, but he was still a 1st rounder stuck behind 4 solid NHL LDH (Chara, Krug, Griz, Moore), and another prospect (Lauzon), so like he isnt still his gauranteed top 4 potential, but to put him in the "Third Dpair or 7th man" would just be unfair.

You make good points and I appreciate the responce.

Who? Boeser, Barzal, Rantanen, Aho? All guys that are first liners because there wasnt a Marchand in their way? Make debrusk and righty and put him on boesers spot and he plays just as well if not better.

DeBrusk as B Silk mentions has done fine and dandy thank you very much...

Let's see:
Barzal - clinging ever so gingerly to a playoff spot...out in round 1 (if they get to the dance)...
Connor - Jets are barely hanging on too and are not gonna make that CUP prediction of the Hockey News a few years back - ahhh drat!
Chabot - OTT are Lottery darlings and low and behold they also have Poppa-Sharkies #1 pick woo-hoo....

Pappy just likes to c r a p on the B's (must be somethin' about that Joe dude about 20yrs ago)...

You realize the team doesnt make the player right.... Thats like saying Mcdavid is terrible because his team never makes the playoffs. I said Debrusk isnt elite because hes never topped 45 points. The guys you mentioned are both 70-80 point players with better stats on WORSE teams. Your whole argument sucks, like it usally does, Debrusk is a great 2nd/3rd line guy that I would love on my team, but he just cant compare to actual elite players.

No Prob PS....I see that bent OK - chill-time/thumbs up!
DeBrusk has been as elite as they come in that draft - maybe not the total 'points-getter' of others but he's counted on to score goals/be net-front in Beantown - not set them up. He's delivered!!
The only complainers are usually non-Bruins really. You can insert Connor/Chabot/Barzal etc. in hind-sight all you want. But there's no guarantee they are 1) all still in Boston (imagine that Cap hit?; 2) they are 'difference' makers in that deep a system, and 3) having that 'group' likely negates Carlo, McAvoy etc. to follow as the entire "apple-cart" is up-ended...

Hey man im not saying change your picks or anything because chain reactions do happen. Would I rather have Barzal or Rantanen in hindsight over Meier? Probably, but your right it would change lots about the team

Yeah, the 2015 draft was deep (Barzal however had very MAJOR knee (surgery/re-lapse) issues in WHL and Boston is a wee bit knowledgeable in that ugly department...).
Seny was off the board but did have 2 >40G seasons in the SOO and was likely the fastest skater in all of junior hockey.

Today - the B's are 100+pts and 1st overall - and they happened to pick up Pasta at #25 selection (practically a second-rounder) in 2014...booyeah!
There's a ton of bigger problems in the league than what they did/didn't do in the 2015 draft...No?
