Doubt Anaheim would make that trade but I'll disagree with others here, I think that's a pretty decent trade for Tampa.

CBO. Only way to get his full cap hit off the books. Should’ve put that in description

Wishful thinking that the cap goes up. At best it stays the same as the season is probably lost.

It would be a tough contract to take on. Felt like it might be worth it to pick up Sergachev

Might be right just went with a small increase. Hope they finish this season so the players don’t get killed next year with the cap

Unless NYR retain salary, trouba will not return a 1st rd pick. He’s a 2nd pairing defenseman

It’s a late first. What about changing that to Anaheim’s second rounder. Would probably only be 10-15 picks later

I think Trouba would only return a 2nd rd pick and that’s it. If his salary was 6.5 mill , the rangers could definitely get a 1st rd pick.

I’d rather stick with what we have. A better defense coach and a full season of Trouba playing with a better partner and not having to contribute as much offensively and he will be fine. Probably not worth the full $8m, but worth more to us than whatever we get in trade.
I’m not crazy about Sergachev. No particular reason to suspect trading for him and giving him a big contract is any different than what we did with Trouba last summer.

Our left side has all of a sudden become our weakness. Good prospects coming up but a year or two away from being full time reliable. I’d be ok doing a bridge for Sergachev until the younger guys were ready and then move him if needed. Confident Trouba could bounce back. May need to pair him with Deangelo on his left

They would still be under the cap with the current cap and this roster. With the high prediction they gave thought it could be available with a small increase Of cap but makes sense what you’re saying as no CBO

Tampa's not moving Gourde and Sergachev for that price, And fat chance in hell of Trouba going to Anaheim when his future wife is going to be a Dr in New York City. There's a reason why Trouba chose the Rangers because his fiance is going to be a Dr there there in the future.

Why would ANA pay a 7th, much less a first and their second highest potential player for Trouba who was absolute garbage this yr and makes 8 mil/yr
