He hasn't been a good player since leaving CBJ.
Yeah I said it.

He was a 30 goal scorer for CBJ. I don't even think he's cracked 20 in nashville.

That was a career year for him, can't use 30 goal scorer for him if its not consistent

At this point I think Nash will say yes to accepting Harrington, 7th Rd. pick and a bag of pucks for Johansen.

If he was still a 30 goal scorer this trade would be unrealistic as Nashville would want much more for a 27 year old center with those kind of numbers

I’d rather move Murray back to NSH then Nuttivaara but I think this trade works.

career year because he went to Nashville. If he stayed in CBJ, he probably keeps scoring goals.

I've been toying with a Dallas trade for a while. This is the general base of the deal I've come up with. What does Dallas need to add here?

Dallas Stars
Josh Anderson
Markus Nutivaara

Columbus Blue Jackets
Radek Faksa
???

Gives Anderson a bit of a fresh start in a middle-6 role & it gives Dallas a RD in Nutivaata to pair with Heiskanen. It also gives Columbus a strong two-way Center in Faksa that can eat up heavy minutes on the PK, and is serviceable on the PP.

The problem is that Jenner Faska and Wennberg are all the same type player. Solid 2 way guys. Columbus doesn’t need that. We need a playmaker and 2nd/1B center.... Johansen fits that much better then Faska does...

Can someone refresh my memory please, why did Columbus trade Johansen in the first place, did they need a dman or did he not want to sign with the Jackets or he thought he was worth more than what they were wiling to give him, what was the issue that resulted in him being traded to Nashville?

Johanssen was posturing for a huge contract and seemed like it would get contentious. Also the fact they were able to get Seth Jones in a 1 for 1 deal. Nuff said. Done deal. and Jackets probably even paid for the plane ticket out of town.

This might not be too bad for Jackets, but Jackets would probably want to add a 3rd pick to the deal and have the Preds retain $1.5m salary in return.

If I remember correctly it wasn’t the contract thing it was the clashing of torts and Ryan. Torts disliked Ryan for his work ethic and would bench him a lot. Which led to the posturing off the ice.

I also remember at the time people were pissed. Ryan was seen as a number 1 center of the future and Seth was a top 4 guy with good upside but people thought we got steamrolled in that trade.

At the time of the trade Jones wasn't even half the player he is today. He was a dman with a lot of potential but stuck behind a great blueline. Saying Cbus probably even paid for the plane ticket is a bit of revisionist history, nobody at the time said the trade was as lopsided as it has turned out to be.

Can we reverse the Johansen/Jones trade now? Ellis, Jones and Fabbro would make for an excellent RD group, and we'd have an extra $2.6M. I'm sure including Austin Watson and a 1st would balance it out, right? squinty smile

Haha as much as I love Jones as a Jackets fan, you guys did alright with Joey. If he didn't get hurt, I think you guys would have won the cup in 2017.

What do you think of this proposal as a Preds fan?

Not sure if you mean my thoughts on the Preds trade above or the Jones/Johansen reversal. If you mean the reversal, I played around with it here: https://www.capfriendly.com/armchair-gm/team/1691364. If you mean the one above, it'd probably need some tweaking for me personally. Wennberg hasn't exactly continued the upward trend he was once on. I don't know much about Nutivaara to be honest.
