If Holland wouldn't trade the 1st for Taylor Hall, why would he trade it for Buchnevich??

If there is CBO, no way NYR move Bucc. Maybe you can get Lias Anderson for Jesse straight up. The 1st is nice but still Bucc and Zib and Krieder clicked great so they arent moving him. But if no CBO then I can see this is a def possibility, but JP isnt getting a 2nd round pick, not a chance, make it a 3rd and you got a deal, also No to Chiasson. That would put us back in a Cap crunch

Cause Hall was a UFA and Buchnevich isn't?

Does Johnson even play center anymore?
Most Tampa fans don't have much good to say about Johnson, have seen some say they'd rather buyout Johnson then Gourde.

Think Tierney would be a good 3C target for the Oilers if they can fit him in, not sure if the Sens have any interest in trading him though.

Agreed Julien Brisebois would buyout Yanni Gourde.

Would you rather have something to show for your 1st round pick or nothing?

Unless all my favorite players were gone by #20, I'd make the pick. Having some deals in my back pocket to consummate at the draft table would be an option, but I wouldn't trade the pick today.

Picking in the mid-1st round is not a "nothing".

You missed my point, would you rather Holland traded the 2020 1st for a UFA in Hall then a signed and still RFA Buchnevich?

Had he given the 1st for Hall he'd have nothing to show for that 1st round pick, I really doubt Hall would resign in Edmonton but that's just my opinion.

I have never advocated for a Hall trade, and I'm not doing that now. I'm saying that the fact Ken Holland wouldn't give the 1st up for Hall indicates that its highly unlikely he'd send it to NYR for Buchnevich.

Or Holland realizes it's not worth giving up a 1st for a rental.

He has stated on multiple occasions that he's not looking to boost the team today at the expense of the long term build. Hence the 2 x 2nds he traded to Detroit for Athanasiou. You could argue that 2 x 2nds are worth about 1 x 1st, but he doesn't look at it that way at all. The 1st gives you a better chance at a better player.

He won't trade the 1st unless he gets blown away with an offer, and this isn't it.
