Cirelli is going to make way more than that. If he signed this Tampa would match without a second thought. Don't forget, Tampa would have a buyout too.

Other teams have cap issues, some a way worse than Toronto's What's this fascination by some many with the Leafs and getting rid of top players?

I'm not an avid Leafs fan by any means, but with this compliance buyout, this team could create significant depth in areas they are lacking. Having a big 3 of Marner-Matthews and Nylander and a deeper defensive corps could make this team one that could compete and beat a Boston or Tampa.

In what universe wouldn't Julien Brisebois match that offer sheet on Anthony Cirelli he probably gets closer to 5 x 5.5 4 x 4 is a joke and i doubt Cirelli would even sign it. Got news for you dude? Toronto is just as much in caphell as Tampa and they're in very little position to be offer sheeting anyone. And it's laughable that Tavares would be bought out. And FYI if the cap remains the same i seriously doubt that their will be any CBOs

44 points in 68 games warrants 7 million a year on a team like Tampa? Are you nuts? It's not like 30+ of those points are goals either. He has 16 goals....

If the cap remains the same or drops, it is very likely CO's come into place....

If it came down to it, you'd be able to trade Tavares. CBO's, which won't happen by the way, should be for guys you can't move.

why stop at tavares! Think of all the cap space you could have if you bought out Tavares, Marner AND Matthews! So much cap space, you could get some cost effective guys to fill in, it would be great.

Who said anything about $7m? However, 44 points in 68 games is legit 2nd line C production. Not to mention the fact that he is fantastic defensively. He'll make well over $4m, depending on term.
