Cap at 86m.? 21 man roster? Spezza and Gauthier season long 3/4 centres? Can't see this really being practical.

Yeah, Johnsson and Kerfoot get no respect on this board. Hell neither does Kappy (to a lesser extent).
Oh and also all the other stuff too.

Cap at best will be flat, So $86 million salary cap is wishful thinking. Pietrangelo reportedly wants 8 x 9.5 from the Blues he's not taking less from the Leafs.

selling low on Johnsson is a terrible idea but with the cap not increasing they have no option. I dont understand the kerfoot hate, hes a good 3c who wont live up to kadri but they didnt exactly need kadri. Johnsson can be a 60 point winger on any team except the leafs. if hes healthy he will probably get around 45-50 points if hes with AM or JT. people look at his point totals and think hes a 3rd liner but he gets zero PP time. hes a perfect net front guy who would fit on most teams pp1. he gets no PP time on the leafs so he will never put up high point totals

Johnsson is very similar to Arvidsson (although not quite as good). Put him in the same minutes and he'd produce similarly. Of that I have no doubt.

And before other lurkers yell at me for that, even Dubas has reportedly made the comparison.

$86 million cap is wishful thinking, I'll give you that.

However, I feel that the Blues won't likely spend big on Pietrangelo with Colton Parayko ready to be the captain, plus he is younger and also plays the right side.

I would say that there is a chance that Pietrangelo would be interested in playing for the Leafs since he's from the area. The big question mark here is if his wife would want to move, she is from St. Louis.

I really don't think St. Louis is going to spend big money on AP, it's not their style. They build with excellent salaries, not big fat ones. The Faulk deal makes me think that they want to replace AP from within and promote. I can see them sticking with Parayko, Bortuzzo ad Faulk on the right side, with the expectation that Dunn continues to get better. He had a great playoff run when they won the cup. The Blues also have 7 or 8 LD in the minors that they might like, and could even resign Scandella on a decent contract if they like him as a fit.

Why do you want our 3C to be a 37 or so year old and our 4C to be a quite limited player. What happens if/when one of Tavares/Matthews goes down?

Why does everyone want to dump Kerfoot?

Also Clifford is not worth signing for term, let alone giving up a second to do it.
