A top six UFA RHD certainly gets more than 1.5m. Gee, the Sharks have a horrid cap problem now and for years

If Thornton doesn't retire, I think he is not coming back though unless it's for a one day contract for retirement.

That's just an assumption based on the things that followed the TDL. But the thing is that's a first time we've seen Joe Thornton asking for a trade to a true/consistent contender probably since his days with the Bruins (if he wanted out at the time) I thought the rumours of Thornton wanting to leave SJS was fake until he had that interview following the 2020 TDL.

He wanted to leave because the sharks were out this year and he wanted to get a cup. He has literally been quoted since to say he is not retiring and isnt leaving SJ
