Oof imagine thinking Skinner is the CBO over Okposo and that Bracco is the 1RW answer

I can always tell someone has never watched a Sabres game when Larsson is on the wing and girgensons is at center

We are not buying out a 4 time 30 goal scorer who had a down year

If it were me (not a fan of either team) I’d say Buffalo never offers that up and MTL would make that trade, imo.

I would think about it if we weren't already struggling with too many RDs. We have Weber, Petry, Fleury, (maybe) Marchenko and Brook, Juulsen looking for spots in the near future. Drouin had a fantastic season before getting injured last year so I think holding on to him and trying to give him another chance is the right option for the Habs.

yeah I know his stats but its an easy way of getting out of a terrible contract for a one dimensional winger who has maybe 3-4 good seasons left...."down" year is an extreme understatement

Playing with Eichel he had his personal best season in a contract year (shocker) and then came crashing down to earth playing away from Jack on L2....you dont pay a winger $9mil per season for that....I dont hate Jeff Skinner I think hes a good top 6 winger but there is no denying that we overpaid like crazy to keep him in Buffalo and if it already isnt one if the worst contracts in the league you can guarantee it will be when hes 32 years old getting 9 sheets/yr to get 40 points a season

Last year wasn't even Jeff Skinners best year as a hockey player. He spent several years in Carolina dragging around crappy line mates.

To call him one dimensional is to not know anything about hockey.

He was slightly overpaid as a pending UFA who held all the cards, but maybe step off the ledge. His game isn't built on speed and he doesn't play a heavy game so his aging curve won't be as pronounced or as early. Look at the contracts being handed out to UFA players like Panarin, Tavares etc. Despite what will be a slowing of cap growth this year, in 4 years, his 9 million cap hit will be what a 7 million cap hit is now.

i was being sarcastic silly little jerry....Anybody who knows anything about hockey would say that Jeff Skinner is not very strong defensively whatsoever and he's not a great passer either....he has a good shot and thats about it, hes a good 5v5 scorer which is valuable

but 23 points in 59 games isnt worth 9 mil/year....

ever think thats maybe why Buffalo was able to acquire him for next to nothing??

I mean Kyle Okposo had a way better year after signing his big ticket and look how that turned out...if given the free opportunity to correct a mistake like the skinner deal you take it

Have you seen the Oilers depth chart? They badly need a 3C. I'm not saying Mittelstadt is that, but he has the potential to be. And yes, every center can play wing. it's the easiest transition to make.

I would love it if Buffalo bought out Skinner - I'd love to have him on the Oilers. But it won't happen, because money. How long do you think Botterill would last if he went to ownership and asked for a check for $46,333,333 to pay Skinner to NOT play for the Sabres??

Oh I know theres no chance it happens I'm just saying if I was GM I would use the CBO on him for sure....His contract will look even uglier than Okposo's does now in a year or 2 if it doesn't already....hes a solid player but not worth 9mil/year....but its Buffalo so we have to overpay if we want players to stick around

Yes. And you'll never get good if you keep sending good players away.
