Jesus these trades are bad.
The Kings aren't paying $17.5M to defensive free agents this summer.
The Kings have their goaltender of the future in Petersen. Quick has been playing like an all-star goaltender since December. If his play does decline, they'll rotate him to backup and give the starting job to Petersen. They're not going to give up what is likely a top 5 overall pick to dump his contract. They're certainly not giving that garbage contract to a 30 year old goaltender.
Walker had a quality season this year and is really the only top four NHL-ready defenseman in the system aside from Doughty. They're not going to trade him unless there's a better option coming back in the trade.
Kings will look to move Carter, but they won't pay to get rid of him. If they can't move his contract, they'll play him one more season and either buy him out or send him to the AHL. If he retires in lieu of reporting to Ontario, the recapture penalty will be almost identical to the buyout cap hit, and it won't last the extra year.
The only move I can see the Kings making this summer is bringing in a veteran LHD on a short term contract (1-2 years). Aside from that, unless they can find takers for Quick or Carter that don't involve them giving up assets, I don't see them making any big moves.
