A 78 mil cap with no cbo:

Undo the trades and sign Dermott.

That's plus 1.95 mil in the Johnsson trade
Plus 3.5 in the Kerfoot trade
Plus 2 mil signing Dermott
Equals 76.446 + 7.5 = 83.946 mil. Only 5.5 mil over the cap...

The cap really has to go down due to revenues. Is there is even going to be 2020/21 season? But isn't more logical that ALL players are going to pay deduction as negotiated by the NHLPA and the owners.?
There just isn't enough teams to take all this "extra cap" and players for the 25 teams that can't man a 22 man roster with 78m cap...if ALL salaries are maintained.

The lowly Sabres have just 10 player signed and would have just 33m to fill the roster with 13 players. Montour, Olfossin and Reinhart are three players that have more value than Johnsson. So it's highly unlikely that any team wants or can afford Johnsson's 3.4m cap hit....just because the Leaf fans want to get rid of it.
