Detroit passes. A 2nd and a 1st for a goalie who was a 2nd rd pick and numbers the same numbers as a 31 year old goalie who spent all season on the worst team in the league.

Why would Ottawa Take on Loui Eriksson @ $6 million for two more years for a 6th rounder? because Nikolay Goldobin is included? If Toronto trades Patrick Marleau for a first rounder then there is no way Ottawa doesn't settle for anything less than a 1st rounder and a top prospect (Nikolay Goldobin isn't a top prospect anymore) to take on his contract.

If Demko is on the trade block, how do other teams value him? I believe he is so close to being a starting goaltender, he looks just like Markstom did 2-3 years ago but Demko is much younger.... I would think you should be able to trade him for a decent roster player...

It's still too much for a back up.

Ottawa probably wants a 1st or 2nd pick for Lou and his US$6MIL per over 2 more years (see Marleau or Backes dumps for the real price tag)!
However, Sweet Lou has a NTC and I'd bet a few quid $$ that OTT is on the no-trade-me-list and Goldy's next stop is the KHL...

Why on earth would VAN do this? A potential starting goalie and an already legit 3C, both still young and relatively cheap for a 2nd and 3rd round pick that have much less chance of actually becoming regular NHL'ers. It makes no sense for the Canucks.

Haha, okay. Even if Demko is only ever a good backup (which he already is), moving him and Gaudette for a 2nd and 3rd is a bad deal for VAN.

Canucks are going to resign markstrom..there is no question..demko isnt going to hang around waiting for his chance..van does not want another repeat of lou and Schneider..so why not try and trade demko to a team that needs a goalie and one for the future. They don't need roster players back in return
But draft picks they will take.. and gaudette is a great player but once again..they are very deep at center especially with the emergence of macEwen do gaudette is the odd man out. He would fetch much more of a return than macEwen so why not

OK you wanna resign late-bloomer, career .912 sv %-age, Marky - hopefully for less than US$6Mil tho (ouch)!

Trading Demko is not a bad Idea (in theory) because w/ expansion only one G-man can be protected; but:
a) trade a kid w/ #1 potential and keep an 'old man'?
b) why not wait first to see if JM knee/brain comes back 100%?, and
c) perhaps a TDL move to get higher return on playoff chasing teams etc.?

Halak - ha! No dice, think US$4M+

I think its bad for Detroit so maybe you should say something to the person who proposed it, since neither of us want it to happen???? Just a thought!
