Making this trade for Suter would be a mistake. Sure, he is still a top pair D but he's getting older and that contract won't look that good soon. Instead, keep Vaakanainen. Kase, Bjork and the picks as well. Grzelcyk may eventually move but idk. No thanks for the trades except the Moore one (again, not sure if ANA would take him but hope)

I loved it untill i saw the trades.
The deals arent bad
Bruins absolutely dont want suters huge long deal, thats terrible
Meier is worth Borjk and a 3rd at best, bruins decline
Bruins arent trading Griz.

Good job with the moore deal at least

Not good overall

Bruins decline.

Meier is worth Bjork and a 3nd maybe.
Meier is worth Vaak alone

Sharks would be dumb to decline

Meier has scored 20+ goals in 3 out of the 4 seasons he has played. His first season was the only season he didn't hit 20 goals. Bjork has yet to score 10 goals in a season and was drafted the season before Meier. So Bjork and a 3rd isn't close to what Meier is worth. I do like Vaak and think he could be a very good player but in his first 2 seasons as a pro he has only 7 games in the NHL which is perfectly normal but it also makes him unproven and not enough to get Meier by himself. I can understand Boston not wanting to give up this much for Meier but the deal isn't that good for SJS that they'd be stupid not to take it. With San Jose's current D you can easily say they need Meier more than they need Vaakanainen.

how the heck is Bjork and a 3rd worth Meier

They are the same age (if anything Meier is slightly younger) while Meier has 49 points in 70 games while Bjork isn't even averaging 1/3 a point per game. Meier is also on a way worse team and also has more blocks and more than 3 times the amount of hits. Meier's goal total for this season is higher than Bjork's point total. Meier is also on a great contract.

No way we do Vaakanainen for Meier. He's very unproven and our defense is fine.

Suter is a warrior and if he had 3 years left on the deal I'd think about it but even retaining it's too much too long

Listen, Im sure you guys arent bruins fans and dont fully understand the whole situation, so I accept that its not your fault.
Vaak is fantastic, and will likely make the roster soon. But think of the rbuins right now: Chara, Krug, Griz, Lauzon (all LHD).. Then they still have Moore who isnt getting the credit he deserves because he is stuck behind those four guys (but he is still a solid 3rd to 2nd dpair guy). If Urho was in Chabots spot on the sens (for exmaple) he would likely play considered a 2nd pair guy right now with huge first pair potential, but he isnt getting that chance. *IM not saying he is as good as chabot, dont worry. But your points that he is "unproven" mean very little because he hasnt gotten the chance to prove himself. Bruins reject this trade by a lot. If the sharks do also, thats fine by me

Ok but Vaakanainen is the only valuable piece going to SJS in that deal. Meier is 23 and has hit 20+ goals in the last three seasons. Last season he had 30 goals and if this season wasn't cut short he could have hit 30 for the second straight season. You just don't trade a player like Meier for less than a sure thing and a player with 7 games isn't a sure thing. As I said before I think Vaakanainen is going be a very good defenseman.

Ok there is your problem. I get it now. "Vaakanainen is the only valuable piece going to SJS in that deal"

Bjork is currently a middle 6 winger with solid top 6 potential. He is in his first full season on the roster, and he had 19 points in 58 games.Im not going to argue about Meiers value, but I know for a fact that Bjork plus those two 3rds (fine not just one 3rd) is worth Meier. And Urho alone is 100% worth Meier.

3rd rounder picks have value, especially two of them. Remember recent trades where teams get solid 2nd liners and 3rd liners for a combination of 3rd and 4th round picks (rentals albeit, but value nonetheless)

Im not going to say Meier is bad, I am not unrealistic. But you need to realize the actual value of the bruins players before trying to comment on them.
Hope this helps you understand where your mistake was!
