Wings pass.

You just dumped over 10 million in cap on Wings next year and 6 million the following year for a 2021 1st and 2nd and two low level prospects. Neither of those players and considered top ten in Canuck system.

It cost Toronto a 1st to dump Marleau or Boston a 1st to rid themselves of Backes and both had 1 year left.

On top of all that you want to get Cholowski a former 1st round pick from Wings. Why not ask for Bertuzzi or Mantha to go with this package.
Teams rebuilding can take on bad contracts but not for nothing. And with the possibility of a lower cap why would Wings help out Vancover when they have cap space and can get a pretty penny for the a team to dump a bad contract on them.

The wings are screwing themselves here by turning this down. Cholowski is losing value now as he has yet to claim a full spot on the roster (yes I am aware part of that is sheltering him, but in reality this was the year he was supposed to push through).
This is an unprotected first from a team whose performance is widely unknown. The two prospects were late picks in the draft who are exceeding their draft expectations. Sutter is still an NHL player and not a cap dump.
Considering there are no cap problems with DET, this is quite the waste to decline.

Was thinking that if the wings really wanted a player like Lind or Karlsson instead of one of either palmu or jasek, I think canucks would offer that aswell...

Or I wonder also if wings would be more interested in taking a defensive prospect back instead of palmu or jasek.I wonder if either Rafferty or juolevi would be enough to get it done.

1st off if a player is making over 4 million and scores 8 goals he is a marginal at best NHL player. We have guys like Suter on our team already in Neilsson, Abdelkader and Helm, we do not need another.

Like I said, Teo player on one year deals got a 1st, why would we take a guy who has two years left for exactly the same amount? The prospects are nothing great and that 1st could be anywhere from top ten to low 20's.

Lastly Cholowski is young, not sure Wings are giving up to easy, some layers it takes a little longer to get your legs in the league. If does not pan out at least we would compound the problem with two horrible contracts.

Ok let's look at the last deal.

Backes was traded with 25% retention a 1st next year and A top prospect for Kase.

Ericksson has two years left where Backes a has one year left. So if you want a team to take on Loui for less, in a time where the cap will not go up? Wings are bad but they are not going to get better making this deal.
