That's a massive overpay for Tierney. Risto should lsnd Tierney and a grade B prospect!

I wouldn't touch Tierney for Risto straight up for. Only so many spots available for D on the power play and Ottawa would be better served giving spots to young guys like Wolanin and Brannstrom. And Ristolainen has limited usefulness in Ottawa if he's off the PP.

Agree. Flip side to that is Sens need a RD. It's a soft side. Perhaps Miller or Montour would be a better fit.

I agree, but adding a weak 5v5 defender isn't the solution. I don't hate Montour as a fit at only 25, and I'm still a Colin Miller fan but I'm not sure it makes sense. You'd have to give up assets to get a guy who isn't significantly better than a guy they could just sign.

If there's no trade available for a young RD who could be a part of the future, Sens are probably better off just throwing some money at a guy like Mark Pysyk to come in on a two year deal.

Also worth noting that the Sens are going to be signing KHL FA Artyom Zub, and it sounds like he might be able to step into a top 4 role right away.

its maybe a slight overpay but everyone on this site thinks Risto has literally no value whatsoever just because he has bad advanced metrics while playing on some of the worst teams in NHL history

its a pretty fair trade imo but hard to judge Ristos value i guess

My issue with Ristolainen is that he's not good. I don't think Montour is a great fit either.

Yes, any acquisition would have to be a Sen long term. Why Risto would be interesting - him and Chabot on the PP1 would be fun to watch, and Brannstrom on the PP2? That's deep. But I think for balance purposes, Montour is the real target.

Pretty sure somewhere I have an AGM where I had the Sabres move him for Tierney actually lol. Value is pretty spot on, and it fits the needs of both teams.

No. It's a massive overpay. Ristolainen's metric this year vastly improved as the team was better. Tierney is too good to be a 3C, not good enough to be a 2C. Risto close to straight up should, without arguement, land a legit 2C. See Barrie and Kerfoot for Kadri, Rosen and a 3rd pick, which translates real close to Barrie for Kadri.
