Trade for Rakell

Created by: Pens3lieve
Team: 2020-21 Pittsburgh Penguins
Initial Creation Date: Apr. 3, 2020
Published: Apr. 3, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Rakell in the last 4 seasons stats are very striking divided in half.
2018/19-2019/20--148 gp., 67 G, 53 A, 120 PTS, +16, 13 GWG, Sh%-16.5%, a positive corsi.
2016/17-2017/18-134 gp., 33 G, 52 A, 85 PTS, -18, 4 GWG, Sh%-8.7%(coincidence?), a negative corsi
His Assists/60 is actually better recently, but his shooting % dropping majorly reduced his goal total. I think there's still a 30-goal scorer there. And "it can't hurt playing with 87 or 71"! Right?
It doesn't work for all(see Galchenyuk, Alex) but I'd like to see it. GMJR and Bob Murray are just like best friends, so you know they'll make a trade most every year no matter what, so why not a major splash in the offseason? Plus Rakell is on an incredible deal! Anaheim traded Kase to Boston, Daniel Sprong isn't helping them get better, and they have no chance to make the playoffs in the near future.
buyout Hornqvist, dump bjugstad and JJ.
the rakell trade is like the Zucker trade.
Galchenyuk, Addison, 1st
bjugstad, hallander, bjorkvist, 1st(this is more but rakell had the potential to be better)

I don't think Anaheim has any reason to trade Rakell unless its a massive over payment (which this isn't) and I think we have enough snipers so I don't see this happening

Putting aside Max Jones (who's rated more highly than Hallander) and Sonny Milano (who's rated more highly than Bjorkqvist) who are already in the NHL, Anaheim has Max Comtois and Brayden Tracey (both of whom are rated more highly than Hallander) and Blake McLaughlin (who's rated more highly than Bjorkqvist) in the system at LW, so I don't think either Pittsburgh prospect interests the Ducks much. Also, I think that Murray isn't interested in any deal for Rakell that doesn't involve a 2020 pick and doesn't at least offer the possibility of curing Anaheim's horrible weakness at RD.

If pens kept Kahun that would’ve been a better base.

Kahun + a first + maybe Hallender or another prospect

I agree with what you say here except for the overpayment slant. I think the OP is absolutely correct in positing that we would have taken a deal very much like the Zucker deal: Hallander or Bjorkqvist (obviating the Milano acquisition), Addison and your 2020 first. Unfortunately, the time for that exchange has passed. The only trade possible between our two teams that I can imagine would be Rakell for John Marino and the 2021 first, which I don't think you'd be happy about.

Yeah Marino is off the table. He was the reason we were able to trade Addison and is probably going to replace Letang as our number 1 d-man sooner than people think. I think Penguins fans are a little to high on Hallander too

Not necessarily terrible... ANA has absolutely ZERO need for anything going back (except the first, but that's gonna be so long before it's ready, late etc...)

Yeah, I was surprised -- close to shocked -- that you'd trade Addison. I thought Marino and Addison were your top 2 RhD of the future.

Yeah well I'd rather it be Addison than Poulin. Addison's going to be very good though

I'd offer McCann-POJ-Rikkola-2021 1st for Rakell and their 2020 2nd. With both Zucker and JG sign long term on the left McCann is gonna cost more than is needed for a third line LW/C with a bad F/O %. Good player but he's redundant. Same with POJ, Dumo and MP have the left side locked for years to come with the O talent laced up on the RD side.

That’s probably what it’d cost for Rakell. I rate him above Zucker in terms of ability, plus his contract is way better, so that’s just how it’s gonna go.

Add in Jack Perbix from ANA. I really don't think he'll be an NHL'er but that name is friggin awesome.

For the Penguins needs, he would be amazing, but Anaheim will want so much and we will have to overpay. I think the Pens should look to shed some cap in the form of Bjugstad this summer, as well as JJ if we get a compliance buyout. If we can do that, I think Craig Smith would be an awesome add as a UFA. Solid free agent signing and we wouldn't have to give up a whole bunch of picks/prospects.

Man that draft board looks like Swiss cheese with all the holes where PICKS should be.
Better win now cause expansion will pick off one decent NHLer above ^ ^ ^ and that draft sheet is an autobahn to the lottery bingo table.

I don't think McCann gets more than 3.25
So I think that's in line with a 3rd liner. Especially given the potential that he really breaks out.
Eventually they may need to move him. But my guess is they wrap him up on the cheap.

I’d give Jarry 3M. Murray’s been inconsistent so I wouldn’t give him 6Mx6. If he’s wont sign cheap then I’d trade him.

After McCanns hot start, there was no way I wanted to trade him. After the 2_-game goalless streak, I’m more willing to trade him. I still think he has potential to be a really good 20-goal 3C. Still, I like him better on the wing and, yeah, LW is stacked against with 59/16.
I think he will take 3 or a little less even.

Yeah I totally agree, I’ve just made a couple ACGMs signing Smith, so I decided to switch it up. I would not be at all surprised if that’s GMJRs signing this offseason.

The 2020 3rd is the our best pick available. Would that tip the scales at all. We could give you Ruhwedel if you want RHD but he’s a 6/7 Dman. Pit doesn’t really have any RHD prospects.

Rakell for Erod, Légaré, 2021 1st, 2020 5th
Or
Rakell for McCann, Hallander, 2021 1st
Or
Rakell for Simon, PO Joseph, 2021 1st

GMJR and Patrick Alvin should literally sit at the draft table and eat Swiss Cheese to signify they’re bored because they don’t pick in the first 100. Lol 😂
Why have the pens even had scouts the last 10 yrs? Lol
For those 3rd round gems.
Murray, Rust, Guentzel, Letang!

That seems fair to me, but @AFOX10900 is right, Ducks don’t need guys like Erod. McCann & Simon definitely have top 6 potential though.
