Drouin for Ristolinen

Created by: Billy739
Team: 2020-21 Montreal Canadiens
Initial Creation Date: Apr. 4, 2020
Published: Apr. 4, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Even Trade
Both teams could keep either player and be happy as they're playing good .
The problem is most believe both have more to offer and havent hit full potential

Drouin -Eichel just seems like its worth the gamble given how good JE has made lesser players look.

Ristolainen gives MTL the ability to sell Petry at a Career high in his final year before UFA.MTL gets a younger D who's due to benefit from Weber as a Mentor.
(Sell Petry at 2021-22 deadline if not contending , if we are risk it and go all in)
Both teams win but if you need)

MTL fixes an issue they have with no RD Prospects worthy of top 4 in their system.
Juulsens on head injurys,Fleury is a Alzner in his prime type #4/5 D at his best if were
lucky and Brooks had a horrible start to his Pro Career
(despite his skating being elite no one ever taught him to play defense ironically)

If 1 for 1 doesnt work maybe a deal for Skinner /Weber involved can work.
Each team gets a replacement at the position they've traded away
-Skinners more expensive and got an extra year but he's 5 years younger then Weber.
-Weber has 6 years left for 1.2m less a year with the final 4/6 years being subject to recapture clause . (meaning if Webers bought out just over 80% of the cap hits NSH )

Weber gets to mentor Dahlin
Skinner gets to become the new Tatar if we're lucky
(if not we're boned but i think with Gallagher he'll be great IMO)

But i'd rather just keep it simple with a 1 for 1 if possible

Andersons deal is based on Gallaghers Deal
Gallagher was playing better and younger at that point
So i shaved a year off the term but kept it the same cap factoring in inflation its fair.

Now Anderson could decline and crap right out on us but i dont think he will in our system and like Domi i think he steps up in the spotlight .

Kovalchuks deals are paid in Signing Bonus's guaranteed cash for taking less on 1 year deals with the hope he becomes MTL's version of 2011 BOS Recchi.

The rest are inconsequential and just picked up on the assumption their teams wont match. if they do we'll just sign someone else

Fischer , DLR and MacEwan are all competing for 1 spot when their contracts up as all are reclamation projects we hope turns out well for us like a Byron lets say

These acquisition give MTL a chance to audition some talent while buying forward prospects so time to develop and get some extra seasoning in hopes they comes out as strong as Suzuki did .Many of these guys will be gone in 2 years when the youth surge pushes them out if all goes as planned

I rather see Byron-Domi-Andersen and Kovy-Suzuki-Armia

The problem is Bergevin want to resign Petry, so kind of useless trade Drouin for Ristolainen. But good idea if you were GM. I doubt Arizona accept this tho

Drouin was injured pretty much the whole year, in what world does this mean he needs a change of scenery? We've always been so harsh on local guy, we can go all the way back to when Pierre Turgeon's been thrown out of town for peanuts.
Can we just stop sending every Qc kid out of town because they aren't producing franchise player numbers? That's why I don't feel like Lafrenière in Montreal makes much sense just because everyone will be on his ass at all time, I'd feel better if we get Stützle (If we're top two).

You're underrating Fischer a ton, he's been one of the more consistent, really solid shut down guys in ARZ (scheme aside, he's just a really good defensive winger) but you also likely underrate Kulak to that same extent, so 🤷‍♀️ and the other trade, both players are bad, so sure, no issue from me (imo Kulak>Risto, and Fischer>Drouin lol)

i was on board with underating Fischer but then i hit your ''IMO'' section. Nevermind Drouins averaged 50 points over the last 3 seasons and had 15 in 27 this year before injury as he was heating up on PP with Weber. (his PP production wasnt passed by Weber until a month after he was out on injury .)

you're saying a player who averages 40 points a year while being top 10 in league hits is worth less then a 7th pair LD and regular healthy scratch ?

Someone else handle this , i just cant take this seriously

I love when the number 1 argument is PP points and completely disregarding defense
